   Summary

   It slips out of Sage’s chokehold easily, but struggles more with getting Sage to release its long hair. It seems unwilling to hurt Sage or itself. “Wait! Wait, don’t go!” The creature snaps its head up to glare at Sage, and the growl it sends Sage’s way visibly rumbles its throat. Sage may, as he realizes now, be pushing his luck. Something to consider later. “Are you- Sentient?”

   The look of utter disgust and offence the mercookie sends Sage tells him all he needs to know- which is that the mercookie is as sentient as Sugar, at least.

   Or: Sage is a researcher who really wants to study the hot reclusive mercookie that saved him after he fell off a boat and into the ocean. What better way to get his attention again than to keep jumping into the ocean? After all, knowledge is worth everything, and this mercookie might know something about the mysteries that Sage has been trying to solve…
