Summary
Murphy's Law states that anything that could go wrong, will — and that describes Mara Harrington's life perfectly. Each time she makes a promise to herself, her life turns upside down and the opposite happens. Everything changes when one wishful moment leads to the death of her only friend, the one person who gave her hope that she wasn't born unlucky. Now Mara has to navigate life scared of ever wanting something, and scared of hoping that someone might be immune to her awful luck. That's until she runs into a man in a coffee shop. She knows who he is — she's sure she saw him on TV not long ago, and remembers that his identity was revealed to the world but no one seems to care. Mara knows that this man before her is Spider-Man.
Peter Parker has lost everything. Recently, he not only failed to get the love of his life back, but nearly died trying to protect someone who, on some level, related to him. Just as he returns back to life and realises he might've been successful in restoring his best friend's memories of him, he's stopped by a complete stranger who claims to know him — but that isn't possible. Nobody remembers Peter Parker as Spider-Man.
Or so he thought.
