Chapter Text
Everything was fine until the bus broke down.
Meg’s head hurt. Her nose was stuffed and she her throat burned every time she swallowed. Truth be told she probably should have told Lester but there wasn’t much point now after she’d insisted that they could walk to the bus station. She’d worked through worse. A mantra that she kept repeating as they kept walking. Apollo was painfully oblivious to her plight, ukulele clacking against his back in time with his steps which was not helping her headache. After another ten minutes of this she wanted to scream, she would have to if she didn’t know how much that would have hurt her already angry throat.
Her foot caught on a rock which sent her crashing to the ground. She stayed how she was, gravel digging into her knees and palms, breathing ragged. And she just snapped. A frustrated wordless sound tore itself from her throat.
Apollo shifted, surprised at the sudden outburst.
“Meg?” He asked cautiously.
She didn’t respond.
“Meg?” Apollo repeated sounding more worried. He knelt and gently grabbed her shoulder. She shoved him off, he looked startled.
She got up, brushing the gravel off her palms, “Let’s go.”
“Not until you tell me whats wrong.”
She mentally cursed.
Apollo just crossed his arms, and waited.
“I have a headache, my nose is plugged and my throat feels like its on fire.” She bit out. “Happy now?”
Apollo didn’t respond. He just began digging through his bag, she watched confused, as he pulled out the water and handed it to her. She took it and then he pressed two pills into her palm.
Once she’d swallowed, Apollo slipped his bag back over his shoulder. “Tell me next time.”
She hummed.
