Meeting the Grandkid/Nephew

Summary:

Feeling that Oliver's gotten used to his home now, Fizz agrees to have Cash and Barbie over so they can meet their grandchild/nephew.

Notes:

I figured it was about time for Oliver to finally meet his adoptive grandpa and aunt. He's gonna be pretty shy around strangers especially since those two can be a lot even when they aren't being jerky. But they're going to be on their best behavior and Fizz will try to lighten up since this is supposed to be a casual thing with family.

Oliver's shy but he'll slowly warm up to them. He already took to Blitz since he's so goofy like his dads ;)

Chapter 1: Getting To Know You

Chapter Text

“So you and Stolas can create fake fire for some flashy effects and maybe Bee can create some confetti and shit,” Blitz suggested as Ozzie wrote some ideas down.

“I like that! Safe but still stylish,” Ozzie nodded, looking over at Oliver reading. “It might be a bit much for him but do you think he’d like to see one of the rehearsals when it’s time for that?”

“Well he likes Fizz’s performances so I don’t see why not?” the shorter imp shrugged.

Oliver looked up and waved at his dad and uncle Blitz who waved back. He even giggled silently at Blitz giving him finger guns like the adorkable uncle he was meant to be. Fizz, who was fixing some lemonade in the kitchen, rolled his eyes at Blitz trying to be cool.

“You and Barbie seriously still do that?” he snarked. “Dorks of a feather flock together I suppose.”

“Hey it’s cool, Fizz!” Blitz pouted before something crossed his mind. “Actually, I was thinking, you’re gonna introduce Oliver to dad and Barb, right?”

“I was thinking about it but I didn’t want to overwhelm him too much with meeting everyone,” Fizz explained before turning to his son and signing to him. “Do ya feel up to meeting your Grandpa Cash and Aunt Barbie?”

‘I would!’ Oliver signed back eagerly before giving his adoptive dad a shy look. ‘They’re nice like you and Uncle Blitz…right?’

“Oh yeah, they're really cool. A little gruff and weird but trust me; they’ll have your back anytime ya need ‘em.” Fizz promised, running a hand through Oliver’s hair. “Your Papa and I would kick their butts if they weren’t cool.”

‘Oh you don’t need to fight them,’ Oliver reassured him.

“Maybe we could do Hell-Chinese and VoxFlix?” Fizz suggested, looking over at Blitz. “You busy  next Friday?”

“Stolas was gonna do something with Octavia and Loona so…yeah I can come!” Blitz smiled broadly.

“Great!”

“I’ll do work from my office at home so I can give you guys time alone,” Ozzie offered.

‘Thank you, Papa,’ Oliver signed.

“Thanks Oz,” Fizz told him gratefully. They were all a family now but this was going to be an adjustment for everyone. They were still getting used to seeing each other on a fairly regular basis and adding a new kid into the mix was definitely going to be strange. Cash and Barbie have mellowed out with age but they could be pretty…intense.

He just hoped they wouldn’t scare Oliver off.

“Okay food’s here and VoxFlix is updated so no stupid buffering during whatever movie we pick…Oliver should be done with his homework soon…” Fizz muttered under his breath.

“It’s gonna be okay, baby,” Ozzie reassured him, gently massaging his shoulders. “Your family’s definitely calmer than when I first met ‘em. They’re gonna love Oliver. Blitz already does.”

“Yeah I know. I just don’t want Oliver getting overwhelmed. Fuck, I’m worried they’ll be upset with me for not having them at the adoption ceremony but I wanted to keep it low-key, ya know?” the young jester sighed.

Ozzie nuzzled his head with his own before kissing his forehead. “Just take it one step at a time. I can stick around for the first part of the visit if you want?” he offered.

Fizz held his hand before kissing it, giving him a grateful smile back. “Thanks…I’d really appreciate that…” he admitted.

Meanwhile, Blitz was giving Cash and Barbie the lowdown on Oliver and what the kiddo liked and how he was a bit of a shy guy. “The little guy’s gonna take a bit to get to warm up to people so let him approach you. If he hides by his dads, don’t take it personally, okay?” he advised.

“Got it,” Cash nodded.

“You’re taking this uncle thing seriously, huh,” Barbie commented with a smile.

“Well I have some good practice with Ruby May so I wanna do my best for Fizz and Ozzie’s boy too,” Blitz shrugged, grumbling when Cash mussed up his spines.

“Ah you’re finally maturing. Good for you!” he teased, making Barbie laugh.

“Hey I’m mature!” the younger twin retorted. “Oh and I know you two are big on physical affection but Oliver might get scared if ya try that right away so don’t get too rough with him.”

The duo agreed to hold back on their usual affection until Oliver was comfortable with them. They knew how important this was to Fizzy so they’d be on their best behavior. From what they heard from Blitz, Oliver was a shy kid since he’d been in the orphanage for so long and being deaf no doubt made it harder for him. Cash and Barbie recalled Fizz having a little trouble with hearing after the fire so they learned a little bit of sign language to make it easier.

They were a bit rusty but with the magic of VoxTube, they could brush up on their skills.

Blitz used his crystal to portal them over just outside of Ozzie’s penthouse and he pressed the dick shaped doorbell to let them know they were here.

“Where do you even get a dick shaped doorbell?” Cash wondered under his breath.

“Dad, this is Lust. It’d be odder to find something that wasn’t dirty in some way,” Barbie remarked, perking up as the door opened.

“Hey guys!” Fizz greeted.

“Fizzy!” the circus family grinned, hugging him close.

“Come on in! Food’s still warm and Oliver’s just finishing up his homework so he’ll be right down,” the imp jester told them, stepping aside to let them in.

“Ya found a school for him already?” Cash guessed.

“Oh yeah. We wanted one that would fit with his learning style. He really likes it so far,” he replied, perking up when Oliver trotted up to him and hugged his leg. “Hey kiddo!”

‘Hi dad!’ Oliver signed before looking over at the guests, moving behind Fizz. ‘Is this your family?’

“Yep. This is Barbie–”

“Nice to meet ya, little man,” Barbie greeted, offering him a fist bump which he shyly returned.

“And Cash Buckzo.”

Cash knelt down to his level, holding his hand out for him to shake. “Good to meet ya.” he told him, grinning when Oliver shook it. He still hid behind his dad afterwards but he was trying which they appreciated.

“You guys all get settled on the couch and I’ll bring some food over!” Fizz told them, watching as the group moved to the sitting area of the penthouse. “So far so good…”

“Yeah I gave ‘em a talk so they won’t scare him,” Blitz reassured him.

“Thanks buddy. Can you keep ‘em occupied while I get the food ready?” he requested.

“Sure bud!”
