Buffy stops dead in the middle of Restfield. "What?"
Spike emerges from behind a mausoleum. "'Lo, Slayer. What a coincidence finding you here. Lovely evening for a spot of slayage."
She rolls her eyes. "It would be a coincidence if you hadn't been following me for three cemeteries."
He has the grace to look a little sheepish. She'll take it. "Wasn't following," he blusters. "Was... patrolling."
"You? Patrolling?" she scoffs.
"Gotta get my violence in somehow, Slayer. You don't want a vamp to get bored, do you?"
"And you just happen to be patrolling all the same places I am?"
He pouts. "Only so many places to patrol."
"In Sunnydale? C'mon, Spike, we have more cemeteries than bars in this town."
He throws his hands up. "Just trying to be helpful! I'll know better next time!" He gives her a sneaky look. "Why'd it take you three cemeteries to scold me?"
She opens and closes her mouth a few times. Why did it, actually? She absolutely doesn't need Spike to know she doesn't have an answer. "I was busy," she tries. "You keep Restfield pretty quiet."
He huffs. "You're welcome."
She rolls her eyes, but she doesn't send him away.
