Work Text:

Naim had been wanting to go shopping for some baby clothes for a while but there was never really a good time to do it. There wasn't ever really money to put towards it either because whatever they made had to be spent.

What he didn't know was that Ryan had been saving up money from extra jobs he took on to make sure his pup was able to get the things she needed.

He didn't want Naim to worry or stress over money or buying what Daisy needed — he wanted better for them both.

So when they both had a day off to themselves Ryan suggested they go shopping for some of the things they needed. They needed clothes, nappies, and a crib actually there was a lot more than that and probably not all at once but they would get them if Ryan had to work his fingers to the bone.

"We could try the salvo first for some clothes, I mean I think she wouldn't mind helping out the planet plus my co-worker Arlo said there were a lot of good deals on barely used baby clothes." Naim and Ryan both had learned to be smart with their money.

"Yah, I mean we can but I want her to have new things too." Ryan wrapped an arm around Naim's waist pulling him close on the nearly empty street corner. They decided on doing a quick shop, grabbing some pizza, and then going home to watch some movie their friend Savannah had suggest watching.

"Yah, nah I just think she would appreciate it I mean they would be unique pieces and we don't exactly have a lot of money to drop on a new pair of baby overalls." Naim wanted the best for their girl but he would make sure she got it.

Ryan's co-workers had actually put together money for them as a baby shower present of sorts. They had told him to surprise Naim with it so they had that money too but he was saving it to put towards something Naim couldn't live without — he deserved something for himself after everything he had gone through.

Their first stop was a small op shop that had baby clothes primarily for sale. There were some outfits near the front that were being advertised as vintage.

"Is it bad I have no clue where to start? I mean there's a lot of stuff…" Naim felt mildly overwhelmed, unsure of the sea of clothes that awaited them. There were definitely more than he had realized.

"Maybe we could start with something simple like what about…oh uh what about these?" Ryan held up a pair of overalls. They were cute, simple and made of a soft corduroy material. A daisy was embroidered on the front pocket.

It was cute and they were actually perfect.

"Wait I like this one, I think I could put her name on it like above the daisy." Naim inspected the outfit. He really liked it. It would need something to go with it like a onesie or a long sleeve shirt since it would be winter time when she was born.

Actually the last appointment they had went to they told them that she was due around Ryan's birthday. He was looking forward to the meeting her part just not so much the having to push her out part. That part he was actively avoiding thinking about until it had to happen.

They continued to look through the shop, finding odds and ends to buy that were in practically pristine condition. It wasn't all that much either.

"I can't believe she's going to be here next month."

"I can't believe you'll be a year old when she's born." Naim teased a cheeky smile on his lips as he put the outfit in their basket.

"Whatever, you're still older than me." Ryan threw back at him.

They were going to be both twenty, Naim had just turned and Ryan would be following him. They had beat teen pregnancy — one of his friends, Emma had made them a gender reveal cake stating this fact. Naim had rolled his eyes with a smile and Ryan laughed so hard his drink had nearly shot out his nose. It was nice having friends they could tell about Daisy — about them.

They had a small circle that they could trust to was mainly friends from work but it was nice.

They were all excited about their new addition it made Naim and Ryan a little at ease about being new parents. They even had a few people giving them old baby gear like a pram and a swing. However, they were both very aware of the things they need which was why Naim had felt the need to shop.

Food was next on the agenda seeing as little miss wouldn't wait any longer. Naim's stomach began rumbling signaling that they should probably check out and find some food.

Naim tended to get sick easily if he didn't have anything to eat. Normally he used to be able to go days without but now it was more like hours.

"I think we could order some pizza, eat it at home and organize her clothes." Naim's main priority was to get as much done as possible while they were both off to help cut down on things that they would need to have done when she was born.

For instance, they would have to wash the clothes and make sure they were put away and he wanted to paint her room too but that would be for a later day. He had a mural in mind that he wanted to paint, the field of daisies where they picked her name out was what he was leaning towards drawing on her wall. But he was exhausted from just walking today that he would work on it one evening after work more than likely.

His ankles were swollen and his lower back was aching so they would have to call it a day on the shopping front but Naim was pretty pleased with what they had bought so far.

After they returned home with their pizza and their mini baby haul, Naim plopped down unceremoniously on the sofa and all but melted into the cushions. His mountain of a belly was all Ryan could see when he walked in the room after plating their pizza.

"Wow, you look exhausted, mate. It's almost like you're growing an entirely separate human bein' in there." Ryan grinned, cozying up to Naim with their little bag of clothes that they had picked for Daisy.

Ryan fished out his favorite outfit, the tiny overalls that had the daisy on the front pocket and laid it across Naim's belly just taking it all in. "She's gonna be so small…can't believe something this size is gonna come outta ya, mate."

Naim had closed his eyes for a second 'just resting them' as he often told his alpha. "Mm?" He peeled one eye open to look down at the tiny clothes resting on his belly. "Shut up, be glad she's not gonna come out of you, cunt."

"Love you, babe."

"Love you too, but you're still a cunt." Naim pushed at Ryan's arm playfully, fighting the smile that corkscrewed its way onto his lips as he leaned forward for a slice of pizza almost capsizing himself in the process before leaning back again to snuggle into his other half's side just taking it all in.

This was really happening, she was going to be there in their arms and they would really be a family.
