Buck is the sun. Blinding and too revealing. He shines a light on all that Eddie wants to hide. So, Eddie’s body will act on his behalf. It doesn’t allow his heart to lead, instead, Eddie looks at Buck and squints. It’s best that he looks at Buck from a distance, from the corner of his eye, it allows him to drink Buck in without playing his hand.

Evie likes to watch Jay’s tourney practices. Or more so, she likes how it’s the perfect excuse to spy on the cheer team. She likes watching the fly girls the most. Audrey especially. She’s tiny and slim in a way Evie can never achieve. They toss her in the air with ease, with abandon, there’s no worry for the fall. If Audrey were to crash, Evie is certain that fairy dust would catch her. A fairy blessing. Sometimes, Evie wonders what would’ve been if Mal had been given the same grace.

Summary
Bobby wants him to go to therapy. An ultimatum, before he can come back to work. He suggests going to see Dr. Wells again, since she was so helpful the first time around, and Buck can’t explain the pit in his stomach. Maybe that’s why he blows up during dinner, as if barbed words could cause the same amount of hurt that ruined his leg. But Bobby doesn’t back down. He levels Buck with a disappointed not quite glare, and Buck is suddenly 12 again. He’s sitting on the Buckley family couch and Phillip Buckley is looming overhead, insisting he still needs a babysitter despite Evan’s protests.

It was a beautiful service.
Evie even arranged each bouquet herself, ensuring that both the reception hall and the chapel were overflowing with flowers, flooded by life.
Afterall, death is a kind of rebirth, and her mother always spoke of making oneself anew and more beautiful than before. That was her mother’s duty to the world, to make it more beautiful. Evie was sure to include that in her tearful eulogy.

Summary
Buck was used to being unwanted.
He didn't fit in at any of the group homes, and he definitely didn't fit in with any of his failed family placements.
But Bobby was different, and if he had to follow him halfway across the country just to hear someone say his name without contempt--Well, it wouldn't be that bad of a trip. And he'd probably be shipped right back to a new group home, but....what if?OR, the pre-canon re-write where Buck was abandoned as a toddler, and finds his way home to Bobby and the 118 anyway.

Summary
It’d be good for Buck to have another cat around him. If Bobby’s lucky, Eddie’s mellow temperament would rub off on his crazy orange menace and make him less of a terror.
Of course, that was delusional of him to hope so. If anything, the two were even worse together.
Buck pawing at people’s legs as a distraction while Eddie stole something off their plate. Buck dragging gloves or socks into Bobby’s office like trophies while Eddie followed behind to drop the stolen items into Bobby’s trash can. Napping in the most random places and therefore forcing everyone to check the engine every time just in case they were inside. Following people around and plopping down belly up at their feet like two meowing speed bumps. Knocking random stuff off the shelves.
Just last week, the two had stepped on the PA mic, Buck broadcasting a steady stream of purrs and random meows throughout the entire firehouse until Hen found Eddie serenely perched on the button.
Bobby somehow ended up adopting not one, but two demonic cats.
