Chapter Text
It’s been two years since Ryusei and Rin moved out together.
It was exactly five years ago when they started dating. Well, the confession was a bit chaotic.
5–6 years ago:
They had just won the World Cup. Rin should’ve been happy, or at least celebrated, but for Rin, there was no reason to celebrate.
Why should he?
He wasn’t the reason Japan won. He wasn’t the one getting praised by Nii-chan. He wasn’t the one who scored.
There were too many reasons not to celebrate. And even if there were reasons, he probably wouldn’t do it anyway. He liked being alone.
The whole team -not all of them, but some- jumped on Isagi. No one came near Rin.
He should’ve been happy about being alone, but for some reason, this time it didn’t feel peaceful.
He thought he was sick.
No.
Actually, he felt lonely.
He would never, ever admit it out loud, but it felt kinda weird. He knew he wasn’t actually alone. There were more than enough people here shouting his name. He had many fans, and there were some annoying Blue Lockers who were annoying as fuck, but cared about Rin (disgusting), but none of that made his loneliness any better. It just gave him a headache.
He didn’t think twice. He ran to the locker rooms, leaving his team and his Nii-chan to celebrate the win without him, even though Sae looked like he didn’t give a damn about winning the World Cup.
It was peacefully silent in the locker room.
No shouting.
No balls being kicked around.
No sweat.
No humans.
No Isagi.
No Sae.
Just him and his thoughts.
But for some reason, he started… crying?
He didn’t know why, but tears were just falling down his face.
He should’ve at least locked the door beforehand, but it was too late.
Someone came in.
Rin didn’t notice. He didn’t stop crying.
And then he heard a voice.
A familiar voice.
An annoyingly familiar voice.
“Didn’t know I’d ever see you cry, Rin-Rin.”
It was Shidou fucking Ryusei.
“Awww, why is a pretty cute boy like you crying in here after winning the World Cup?”
He sat beside him and pulled his cheeks just to tease him. He expected Rin to fight back, punch him, or at least scream at him.
But for some reason, he didn’t do any of that.
Instead, Rin just kept crying while letting Shidou pull his cheeks.
He didn’t have the strength to fight. He was just tired.
“Uhm, what happened to my Rinnie? Give him back!”
He immediately stood up because this wasn’t Rin at all.
But he had to admit, Rin looked like an angel while crying—
Wait, what?
No.
What was he even saying?
Oh my god.
Rin didn’t answer. He just looked down and tried to stop the tears. He was really tired. He didn’t know what to do, and he also had a flight afterwards back to Kamakura.
Shidou was confused. He didn’t understand what was wrong with Rin.
“Uhm, okay, seriously, are you okay?”
Rin didn’t answer at first.
But then he said something Shidou didn’t understand.
“What did you say, Rin-Rin?”
“I don’t need your pity. Just fuck off and go annoy someone else, you fucking weirdo.”
Rin calmed down and stopped crying. He managed to put his usual cold expression back on.
He didn’t need help from anyone.
And especially not from that cockroach.
“Who do you think you’re calling a weirdo?”
Shidou got pissed and grabbed him by the collar.
“Who the fuck do you think you are to touch me?”
And after that, they started fighting like crazy.

When Ego came back to the locker room, he looked pissed.
Of course he would.
Rin and Shidou had made an absolute mess. The others’ clothes were lying all over the ground, there was one broken water bottle, shoes were scattered across the floor, and two boys literally trying to kill each other.
Rin was on top of Shidou, choking him while Shidou kept rage baiting him.
Both of them had bloody noses, their lips were bleeding too, Rin had a black eye, and Shidou got bruises on his neck.
They were lucky enough not to get kicked out of Blue Lock, but they still got punished.
Back at the facility, Ego spoke to both of them.
“What came across your minds to make you start fighting? This is a place to find the best striker, not the best fighter. If you two want to become fighters, then fuck off. This place is not for you.”
Silence.
“Do you want to become fighters? Yes or no?!”
Both of them answered at the same time.
“No.”
“If this ever happens again, both of you will get kicked out. And of course, there will be punishments. Both of you are going to stay three days longer at Blue Lock and clean the entire facility.”
Shidou thought it was a dumb punishment. It wasn’t even that serious.
“Hey, just because of a little fight, we have to stay an extra three days to clean the whole facility?! That must be a joke!”
Rin was still mad. If that cockroach hadn’t disturbed him while he was, uh… doing the thing -he couldn’t admit it- then none of this would’ve happened.
“The only joke is both of you. Now fuck off. You start cleaning tomorrow for the next three days. And let Anri show you your shared room.”
“Wait, what?.. SHARED ROOM WITH THAT COCKROACH?!”
“HEY, FOUR EYES! WHY THE FUCK ARE WE GONNA SHARE ONE ROOM TOGETHER?! Why not separate rooms?!”
“You two should learn to get along. If both of you don’t start behaving, then you’re surely going to get kicked out.”
—————————————————————————
Anri showed both boys the way to their shared room. When they arrived, she didn’t stay for long. She just told them to rest well and congratulated them on how well they had played in the match.
But then she gave them a slightly creepy smile.
“It would’ve been better if you guys hadn’t fought.”
After that, she left the room.
Rin was still mad about having to share a room with that antenna head, but at least they had a bathroom in their room.
Rin was tired, so he just put his stuff down in one place so he wouldn’t make a huge mess.
Then he looked behind him after hearing noises that definitely didn’t sound like someone organizing their stuff.
He immediately regretted looking.
He wished he hadn’t.
Rin already knew Shidou was a messy person, but that fucker had taken it way too far.
Not even a minute had passed, and he had already made a huge mess.
“You fucker, what the hell did you do?!”
“Don’t scream so loud I didn’t do anything!”
After saying that, he just lay down on his bed while Rin kept insulting him.
Shidou ignored him completely, which only made Rin even more angry.
After a few minutes, Shidou finally spoke.
“Oh gosh, couldn’t you just shut up for once? I’m trying to sleep.”
Rin was so mad he wanted to just kill him, but instead, he stopped talking and went to the bathroom.
Oh god.
He was tired.
He just wanted to sleep, but he couldn’t relax knowing he had to share a room with him.
He actually hadn’t slept properly for days.
He felt nauseous most of the time. The thought of seeing Sae again after what happened made him feel sick. He was nervous, but he didn’t see that as an excuse not to train and get better.
He had kept playing and pushing himself day and night for the past few months.
He often threw up, but he still didn’t see it as an excuse to stop playing.
Even after everyone else stopped playing to rest, he didn’t.
Still not an excuse.
Even after he got injured, mostly because of Shidou, he didn’t stop playing.
Even when he went for hours without eating, he didn’t stop.
For some reason, no one noticed…?
“Oh, fuck.”
he threw up again.
“Fucking disgusting.”
Luckily, it didn’t last long.
He washed his hands and looked up.
And then he saw him.
Sae.
Of course he did.
Rin felt disgusted with himself, but he didn’t want to look at himself in the mirror.
So he immediately left the bathroom and went back to bed.
After a while, he finally fell asleep.
The exhaustion had won.
