Chapter Text
Mhok didn't need to know. He did not need to know. He'd be happy to tell you all the things he didn't need to know about his boss/friend and his boyfriend, but does anyway. All because Kian couldn't keep it in his pants.
Alright, he'll admit he wanted Kian to fall in love. To find companionship and well, friendship with someone that wasn't his family or bodyguard.
Because he loves his friend so much, Mhok didn't mind playing cupid every now and then. Didn't mind going above and beyond his promise to protect Peach; and give him advice, lend him a ear, and help him come to terms with the madness that is dating Kian. He didn't mind at all. In fact, he really liked and admired Peach. Truly, what's not to like? He's a breath of fresh air.
But Mhok needs to draw a line somewhere.
To protect his own sanity, and honestly, Peach's as well.
He knows everything about Kian. He's been in the bathroom while Kian is in the bathtub watching soapies, there's no secrets here. But Mhok hadn't known much about Kian's love life by virtue of, well, Kian not having one.
But now that Kian's adamant about his schoolboy crush as a grown man, Mhok's been subjected to plenty of horrors and some sweet but overly cringe-worthy moments. (He adores and enjoys Kian's cringe-worthy, overly dramatic shenanigans. But we were talking about a line. A line that needs to exist.)
And okay, the first time Kian had alluded to their first time in the car, Mhok had smirked with him.
"I'm human, how can he eat me?" Peach had sighed after one of Kian's tirades about the way Peach's new boss was looking at him. (Apparently he was looking at Peach like he wanted to eat him. Mhok had to sigh at their antics.)
"But I ate you up last night." Kian had announced proudly, much to Peach's embarrassment.
Peach had given Mhok an embarrased smile through the rear view mirror before hitting Kian playfully and admonishing him.
The whole thing, beyond being too much information, was confirmation that Kian's quest of getting Peach to date him had been successful – with no small amount of help from Mhok.
So obviously, he was delighted and he'd smirked into the rear-view mirror.
Well, he's not smirking now.
1.
The first time, admittedly was through no fault of his own. And certainly not Kian's or Peach's. No, that one was entirely Rome's fault.
The young master had a mischievous smile on his face, when Mhok reported for duty that day, only to find his boss nowhere near the breakfast area, where he was supposed to be. It was suspicious all on its own. See, Kian was pedantic about eating on time and if there was one thing Mhok could count on, it was his boss appearing for breakfast at exactly the time he was meant to.
"Morning, Khun Rome. Is Khun Thee okay?"
"Oh, he's in his room. He was just looking for you," Rome said, that permanent smirk lighting up his face. He's been looking at that blinding smirk for years now, and one of these days he'll stop being affected so much by it. He knows it. (God, he hopes so.)
"I'll take my leave then," Mhok said, giving him a polite bow before heading towards Kian's room.
He didn't think anything of it. Kian was probably looking for him because he needed something, and Mhok was more than used to being summoned for one thing or another. He knocked once before opening the door, already halfway into the room when he looked up.
Peach was there. With his boss. On the couch. And very, very shirtless.
Mhok stopped so abruptly he nearly forgot how to breathe.
For half a second, neither of them noticed him. Peach was sprawled against the couch, Kian leaning over him, his head buried in Peach's neck. Peach's fingers were tangled in Kian's hair, pulling him closer even as Kian's hand was inching into his waistband. They were far too absorbed in each other to notice that the door had opened.
Then Peach's eyes opened, mouth parting in a gasp as he sees Mhok.
His entire face shifted from hazy pleasure to absolute horror.
"K-Khun Mhok!"
Peach shoved Kian off him so quickly that Kian landed on the floor with a startled grunt. Peach scrambled upright, snatched the nearest pillow, and pulled it against his chest, staring at Mhok as though sheer panic might somehow make him disappear.
Mhok stared back.
Peach stared right back at him, red-faced and horrified, hair completely dishevelled and breathing far too hard for Mhok's peace of mind.
Kian, meanwhile, was still on the floor, looking up at both of them with an expression that shifted between offended and embarassed.
Mhok's eyes travelled slowly from Kian, to Peach, and then back again.
Oh.
Oh, no.
He had walked right into this. And judging by the smirk Rome had been wearing that morning, Mhok suddenly had a horrible feeling that he had been sent here specifically to walk into this. He had been set up.
Kian scrambled to his feet, immediately placing himself between him and Peach. "Mhok–"
Mhok screamed.
It was one short, horrified, embarassingly high sound, before he slapped both hands over his eyes and stumbled out of the room like a virgin schoolboy, nearly tripping over his own feet in his haste to escape.
He knew not to trust that damn smirk. Oh, he was going to kill Rome.
***
He did not, in fact, kill Rome. Instead, his focus was stolen by prying Kian off of his hysterical younger brother.
All the while Peach sat at the kitchen table, blushing a furious shade of red and clutching a coffee cup for dear life, his demeanour shifting between amusement and mortification.
The ensuing car ride where Mhok had to take Peach to work had been one of the most awkward rides of his life. Peach had been playing with his fingers in the passenger seat, opening and closing his mouth, with no words coming out.
Peach had always been polite with Mhok, an easy friendliness softening him whenever they talked. Which is worth a mention considering how Kian's one night stands had treated him.
So whatever friendliness they had between them, as much as it was because of Kian, it still made it very hard to look at the other man.
Mhok had been simultaneously trying to apologise and trying not to stare at Peach's neck covered in bruises and bite marks.
So much for drawing a line.
In the end they silently agreed that it would never be talked about again.
