Chapter Text
Akivili woke up in a stranger's bed with a headache and a head full of questions. The sheets smelled like cinnamon, and the curtains were bright red.
They remembered a noisy bar and a stranger with red hair who laughed at everything. After that, the night turned into a blur.
Akivili slipped out of bed and searched the floor for their clothes. Their shirt was missing, so they grabbed the first soft thing they found and pulled it on. Then they tiptoed toward the door.
"Leaving so soon, my Akivili?"
Aha stood in the kitchen doorway with two mugs of coffee. Their red hair was a wild mess, and their red eyes sparkled with mischief.
Akivili froze with one hand on the doorknob. "How do you know my name?"
"You told me ten times. You also explained why octopuses have three hearts." Aha grinned at them. "You get very curious when you're drunk."
Then their gaze dropped to the red fabric hanging past Akivili's knees, and to the cartoon mask printed across the front.
"Is that my hoodie?"
Akivili looked down at the giant sleeves covering their hands. "...No?" they said, while their cheeks turned pink.
Aha laughed, loud and wicked. They set the mugs down and walked over until Akivili's back met the door.
"It has my favorite coffee stain on the sleeve, my Akivili. It also looks much better on you than it ever did on me."
Akivili tilted their head and studied Aha's face. Curiosity was winning against embarrassment. "Then why did you ask?"
"I wanted to hear what you would say." Aha tugged the hood up over Akivili's silver hair and leaned close. "Stay for breakfast, and you can keep it."
"What's for breakfast?" Akivili asked, smiling up at them.
Aha kissed them instead of answering.
