Did anyone else see how she was so defensive when she mentioned around Alvez that she wanted to “get her drink on?” Like, what was she so defensive about? It’s almost like she was trying to impress him. And his smirk afterwards and the “did I say anything?”

Reid: Garcia acting defensive about wanting a drink? That’s very out-of-character for her. Especially after a case like that, I mean, we were all going, why did she think she would get judgement?
Rossi: Maybe because Luke didn’t come? She didn’t know his views?
JJ: Maybe. Still… strange. And yes the “did I say anything!” It’s almost like he was trying to comfort her!!

I met Luke’s dog today. Her name is Roxy. he told me he was going to introduce her to Garcia because (and I quote,) “I know she doesn’t want to like me, so I figure I’m going to make it easier on her.”

JJ: Wait, Roxy is his dog??? She thought Roxy was his girlfriend! She was telling me about this! She said he mentioned someone named Roxy and called her “my girl” and said she “adored him.” Penelope said it was like “how could any female not be intoxicated by his masculine wiles.” Also a quote.
Tara: She said W H A T?????
JJ: I am also not making this up. That is how she described his tone.

I feel like they forgot other people were in the room for this? Penelope came in this morning lugging a bunch of bags and plops them all on Luke’s desk. Their interaction went something like this:
Garcia: It’s just a little something.
Luke: For me?
Garcia: No, not for you, for Roxy, but you have opposable thumbs, so you can open them for her.
Luke: Wow. Biscuits!
Garcia: Yep, they’re all-organic, human-grade, quite delish if I do say so myself. Plus… (pointing at the larger bags)
Luke: *Pulling a pink sweater out of the bag* It’s a sweater!
Garcia: Oh! Isn’t it amazing?
Luke: It is… amazing.
Garcia: What was that?
Luke: What was what?
Garcia: You paused.
Luke: No I didn’t.
Garcia: *Looking quite hurt* You don’t like it.
Luke: No! I didn’t say that!
Garcia: Oh you may be a profiler in training, but I’m a profiler by association, and I can tell a lie when I hear one, and, liar.
Luke: *Giving her the most puppy dog of puppy dog expressions* Okay. I’m sorry. It’s the biscuits. Roxy, she’s on a raw-food diet.
Garcia: Oh. They’re mostly peanut butter, but my bad. *Picks up sweater* but this is great, huh?
Luke: *Stammering* Yeah! This is… this is amazing.
Garcia: It is.
Luke: And very, very thoughtful.
Garcia: It was, wasn’t it?
Luke: It was, thank you.

Tara: I… that’s a lot to absorb.
Rossi: I’m sorry, she goes from pretending to hate this guy, to buying his dog presents, back to pretending to hate him? He’s having a bigger effect on her than I thought.
Reid: You know, considering his past on the fugitive task force as well as the army rangers, he and Roxy saw some pretty bad things, so it was likely the sweater that was actually the main problem, and he said the thing about the biscuits to spare her feelings.
Prentiss: And puppy dog expression??? Really? Luke Alvez???
JJ: It was like when my sons are trying to apologize for sneaking an extra cookie or staying up late.
Prentiss: Wow. That’s. Very puppy dog.
Rossi: Probably learned it from Roxy.

You know, I was talking with Luke today about his days on the fugitive task force, how it compared to this, being more of a team sport and all. Then I remembered that when he was originally offered the position, he told me he “needed the chase.” Wonder what made him change his mind…?

Reid: Well there certainly is quite a bit of “chase” involved in our job as well. Maybe he realized it wasn’t as different as he originally thought.
JJ: Yeah, OR, the team gave him something (or rather, someone) new to chase.

Update to my last post: she brought him another gift for Roxy??? This time it was a cool dog collar because (as we stated last time) he and Roxy saw some pretty intense stuff and pink sweaters might not “be her jam.” (Garcia’s words, not mine.) And, because I cannot ignore the rest of their interaction, here it is.
Luke: *Holding the collar* This, this is dope.
Garcia: *Grinning WIDELY* You like it?
Luke: *With the most genuine smile I think I’ve ever seen on him* Yes. Thank you. Roxy thanks you.
Garcia: Good. I knew I’d eventually get it right. It feels good to get it right. I might not be able to prevent myself from random acts of dog kindness. Not everyday, mind you, because that would be excessive.
Luke: *Only slightly teasing* Oh, yeah, and you’re the queen of moderation.
Garcia: I am the queen of it.
(Guys I cannot stress this enough, the way he was smiling at her, oh my GOODNESS)

Prentiss: And more gifts for his dog? She likes him more than she cares to admit. It’s under the guise of loving dogs for now, sure, but I don’t know how much longer she’ll be able to keep this up.

I was inviting them both to join us all at O’Keefe’s, and when I asked him, this is how the conversation played out:
Her: No. This one doesn’t do the whole bonding-over-drinks thing
Him: *Partially out of well-intended spite, I’m sure* I’m in.
Her: What? Oh, you’re not fooling me, Alvez. (To me) He just wants us to think he’s a smoldering basket of mystique and contradictions. I don’t buy it.
Him: Hey, I just want a beer.
Her: Well, there may be a glimmer of hope for you yet. But, just so you know, the new guy pays.
(He looked slightly offended at that, but the whole interaction he was smiling at her that specific way that JJ mentioned.)

I may be looking WAY too far into this, but did anyone else see the way he passed her her remote in the briefing? The way she held out her hand to him and he handed it over and she picked up without another thought? And the looks they were giving each other? I don’t know, there was just… tension.

Reid: I did see this, actually, and I agree with JJ, there was some definite tension.
Tara: Yeah, me too, I looked up when she paused, and there was just something about their faces. There’s some kind of tension (the good kind) between them and they are REFUSING to acknowledge it.
Rossi: JJ, you missed the best part. The remote was on the table in front of her. He picked it up. So she would have to get him to hand it to her.

I don’t want to assume anything… inappropriate, but today on the jet when Garcia was describing the location of Cherry’s tattoos, and gesturing vaguely at her chest area, Luke was staring at her on the screen (and I do mean staring) and he had this kind of dazed look on his face… he almost seemed to zone out for a second, before snapping himself back to reality.

All right, since we could all use some good/happy news right now, what with Reid being in jail and Prentiss gone to help him, did anyone else notice the way Luke was looking at Garcia on the jet this morning? It was like she hung the stars in the sky.

David Rossi you brilliant, brilliant man. It hasn’t even been five minutes and I already have something to report. While the police officer was talking to me, Luke went over to Penelope and extended his hand to her to help her down off the sidewalk onto the road. She took his hand and allowed him to help her down. She’s gotten down off sidewalks onto roads before, heels or no heels. SHE TOOK HIS HAND!!! I mean, granted, she yanked hers right out of his seconds later, but STILL!

I come bearing another updateeeeeeeee (I mean most of you were in the room with me when this interaction went down, but for the others here’s what happened. The two of them are working together to find our unsub (yes we all left them alone on purpose) and they are on speakerphone with us.
Her: Stop staring at me when I’m search enginging, it’s distracting!
Him: (Stammering) I’m… I’m not… staring…

We all need something to think about right now other than Spence being denied bail and staying in jail, so here are three things:
-They decided to sit together in the courtroom
-When it was first announced Reid was denied bail, we were all looking at him. They were looking at each other
-When Spence was led out of the courtroom, she began to cry. Luke stood up and just… held her. And massaged her shoulders. She let him.

Tara: That’s because she doesn’t yet know that she and Luke are our silver linings. I think she might kill us for that.
Walker: Nah, she doesn’t have a malicious bone in her body. She’d probably just brood for a bit and then go back to her normal self since she can’t function without showing people how much she loves them.

Surprise, it’s me again. I don’t know if I’m the only one who caught this, but when Penelope was detailing her plan on how to comfort Reid in jail, Luke was just looking at her with this soft smile on his face like, “Of course you have this all planned out. You’re amazing.”

So Luke came to me today, seeming very worried and asking if I could talk to Fiona, see what she could do on the legal side of things to get Reid some extra protection in prison, and he needed to reach out to a contact of his to see if he could do the same. The reason for this being: he had stumbled across Garcia in her office crying, and although at first she refused to say why, he refused to leave, so she told him that when she had been to visit Reid, he had been hurt.

JJ: So obviously Reid being hurt in prison is not great, but SHE CRIED TO HIM?
Tara: I’m stuck on the “he refused to leave.”
Rossi: Well I think it’s obvious to all of us that he cares very deeply for her. He saw her upset and wanted to do whatever he could to comfort her. Obviously he would have done this if it were any of us that had told him, but the point it is was her. And she finally let herself be vulnerable with him.

So I was Luke’s roommate during this case, and as we were getting packed up and ready to go, something falls out of his bag. I pick it up, and it’s a little squeaky cat. At first I thought it was a dog toy, but oh no, it’s too small to be a dog toy, and not made out of the right material. So I look at him and he says to me, “I got it for Garcia’s desk. I know she was really upset right before we left, so I hoped that might help her out a bit.”

JJ: So I was right, she WAS crying to him.

Emily: Do you happen to remember what color the cat was?
Walker: Black with a white stomach.
Emily: Oh my god that’s perfect. Penelope has a cat, Sergio, he used to be mine, I gave him to her when I left for London, he looks like that, so not only does she now have a fun little cat ornament for her desk that she would have loved regardless, but she has one that will remind him of her actual cat who she misses while she is at work.
JJ: Cats and all things adorable and fluffy are absolutely the way to her heart.
Emily: Yep, and he’s doing everything he can to get there.

I noticed this morning at our briefing when she answered a question she asked and they were having a conversation… they’ve been sitting beside each other almost every single time. Also the way he listens to her… it's clear he gives her every ounce of his attention.

While debriefing today (and yes, they were sitting beside each other, thank you Emily for bringing that to my attention) she passed OVER him to give Tara her files, then handed his to him and he gave her this little look and bow of his head that was like, “thank you” and I know that doesn’t seem like much but there was just… tension.

Garcia waited in the car while Luke and I went in, and when we emerged with Reid, he went to her and hugged her, as would be expected. I happened to see Luke out of the corner of my eye, and sure, it could be passed off that he was looking at both of them, but…

Prentiss added me when Garcia told me she would “try to be friendlier to Alvez” but it was “complicated,” and I asked Emily if anything was going on between the two of them, because when is it “complicated” for Penelope Garcia to be nice to anybody? Well I just gave this whole thing a read-through and… holy shit. Complicated indeed. And I know what look y’all are talking about. He gave her the same one when asking about tracing the hack from the fake text.

Reid: I just read up on everything that happened while I was away, and oh my god. Actually, Morgan, I think you might be the reason all of this is so “complicated” for her. He’s your replacement. Now obviously, no one can actually replace you, they can just fill your spot on the team, but if it SEEMS like he’s replacing you, she could be mad at herself for becoming friendly with him or even developing feelings for him.
Tara: And she could also be protecting herself and closing herself off from forming new strong relationships to prevent the hurt from after you left.
Morgan: Well damn. Good thing I told her to be nicer to him. Keep me in the loop.

Alright so maybe this isn't the best timing, what with Emily being missing and Stephen… but I am sitting in a hospital bed with nothing to do, so here goes. When Luke was helping me after the crash, Penelope saw Stephen still in the back of the car and went to him and Luke left me and RAN after her to go hold her and comfort her.

When I said something today about Kimberly Desmond's long list of ex boyfriends and how nothing stood out yet, Luke made a point of reminding me that Garcia hadn't finished running the names yet. This caused me to realize he does this a lot. He's always standing up for her, bringing her into conversations, essentially detailing how crucial she is to the team. Not that any of us need a reminder.

I CANNOT be the only one who saw how excited he was when Garcia walked back into the BAU. He was drumming on the table and clapping his hands and this ridiculous grin on his face. He couldn't stop smiling at her! And then later when he offered to carry her boxes back to the office with her and she actually accepted his help? Oh this has been a very good day.

Update: it worked! (And I don't just mean the proposal.) I mean I saw Penelope hug Krystall, and Luke was hanging back, waiting for his turn. When she let go of Krystall he looked at her like, "Do I get a hug or what?" and the waved him over like, "yes, fine, get over here." So he goes in for the hug, wraps his arms partially around her, KISSES HER ON THE CHEEK, and then hugs her fully and TIGHTLY. I could see the muscles in his shoulders squeezing together. I gave him a pat on the back. They couldn't stop smiling at each other afterwards.

So after Garcia gave her speech and we all said "Salud," I heard him say (much quieter, and while looking right at her) "I love you." I turned to look at him and he KNEW HE WAS CAUGHT! He blushed and kind of laughed it off and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
