Chapter Text
The coffee mug is shattered in a dozen little pieces around Rudyard's feet. Chapman is concerned, insisting that Rudyard stay still so as to not get any glass in his feet. Rudyard isn't sure he could move if he wanted to. See, here's the thing: Rudyard is a jumpy guy, and he doesn't take surprises well. The two of them have their uneasy agreement of the rules of living in the same house without really knowing each other. Somewhere in their rules, it must say "no surprising your very gay roommate by being all shirtless and freshly showered with a stupid pair of sweatpants on and making him drop his cup." Maybe Rudyard is so thirsty because he spilled all of his tea when he dropped his mug. "You," Rudyard's voice cracks. "You startled me." Chapman looks up at him with those sparkling eyes of his. "I could tell." Rudyard hopes he isn't laughing because he knows how Rudyard feels. All at once, it's too much. The pining, the lingering glances, the tension. The fights. Rudyard will pack his bags right goddamn now if he needs to. He grabs Chapman by the back of his neck and pulls him up. Chapman doesn't hesitate to kiss him.
