“Look up,” Jim whispers, hand finding his again, body warm against his side.
The night sky here is always beautiful. Darker than it ever is in the city, deep and rich with so many fucking stars that he can barely believe it’s real. It reminds him of being a kid, in the tiny village he grew up in, lying on the grass and staring up at the stars until he was lost among them. It’s a good feeling.
But now – oh, now –
Greens and blues and a deep red wash across the sky, painting the night like poetry. Brighter than he’d thought possible, stretching so high, so wide, until it’s all that Ed can see.
And not just painted there – they’re moving. Dancing their way through the sky, slowly flickering to their celestial song. Ed swears he can almost hear it. He feels it, deep in his bones, ringing through with that sense of wonder that he’d thought he had lost, once upon a time.
“The northern lights,” Ed whispers, unable to look away. “Holy shit.”
Jim and Ed, getting older and watching the night skies.

Ed mentally checks his calendar. He’d wanted to go see a film, but that’s about it. And it’s not like he wouldn’t set everything aside for Jim, anyway. “I’m free any evening you want.”
Jim squirms a little in their seat, refusing to make eye contact. “… I was hoping you might be free for the whole weekend.”
It stops Ed in his tracks. He stares at them, mouth open. “The whole weekend?”
Their scowl deepens, if that was even possible. “I want to try – the thing.”
“Gonna have to be a little more specific than that, Jimbo.”
Jim’s cheeks darken a little. They look away again. Ed probably shouldn’t find it so endearing how embarrassed they get over being forced to say what they want, but so help him, he does. “The edging thing. Like… orgasm denial and shit.”
The fourth installment of the Remington Steele AU, a series in which Jim is a detective, Ed is a con man and a thief, and they fuck their way into a messy BDSM rerelationship. Summary
Izzy Hands, once a fearsome pirate, had, after losing his captain, his leg, and nearly his life, taken up whittling in his free time. He begins small, pressing the shark carefully into Lucious’ hands with a weird feeling (fondness) tightly constricting his chest, but at some point he got it in his head that the others also deserved a small thanks for not being complete twats all of the time.

Summary
It's not without issues-- Oluwande often doubts himself under pressure, and Izzy is still Izzy, abrasive to a fault and quick to anger. But they find a rhythm between them. Oluwande listens, really listens, and Izzy finds a little bit more patience in himself for a willing student. There's more than once that Izzy catches himself smiling, feeling relaxed, and several more that he sees Olu is, too. He wouldn't have thought that he could have this with someone who he hadn’t suffered alongside, but here they are. It's nice.
When Oluwande asks Izzy for his help in becoming a better sailor, he doesn't think much of it. Still recovering from his near-death experience, he’s not capable of doing his duties around the ship like he used to, and this way he can be of use to the crew in another way. But doubt creeps in as they progress through the lessons. Izzy can't help but think that there's something more to Olu’s request.
