Summary
Alfred steps forward until he’s closer to the chair Bruce is sitting in, slowly crouching down to get a better look at his face. Tired, bloodshot eyes stare back at him. His face looks pale and thin in the candlelight.
"Bruce,” he murmurs, “when was the last time you slept?”
His eyes betray a flicker of guilt just for a moment before they leave Alfred’s, staring instead at the floor. “Last night,” he says, but he’s lying.

Summary
After Dick Grayson witnessed the deaths of his parents, an unprepared, reclusive, and slightly awkward billionaire decides to take him in. Bruce sees so much of himself in the boy, but doesn’t know how to raise him right, and without Alfred he’d be hopeless. Bruce, vowing that Dick won’t share his own fate, instead decides to seek justice on his ward’s behalf. The mystery of who murdered the Graysons keeps both boy and vigilante on the hunt for the killer, though Bruce tries to keep Dick out of it. Stranger still is the looming feeling that their murders weren’t entirely senseless.
Features mystery/noir elements, as well as some fluffy silliness. Takes place right after The Batman 2022.

“They-They’re d-dead aren’t they?” He could feel his voice breaking as more eyes looked over towards him.
Lightning struck nearby, lighting up the alleyway in all its gorey glory. Blood had leaked out of his mother’s body, coating the ground beneath her. His father’s eyes were wide open, seeming to stare directly at Bruce.
Officer Gordon crouched down, hand still clasped around Bruce’s shoulder.
“Yes. They are. I’m so sorry Bruce.”
