Summary
Cloud knows the story of Jenova. She comes on the night of the Solstice and takes the soul of a living being. It's how she's stayed alive all these years. Like everyone else, he puts out his incense and an offering and prays to wake up the next morning. On the night of his last Solstice in Nibelheim, he didn't expect to find someone sitting on his window sill.

Summary
Everything was turning. Everything but Sephiroth.
He looked like a God. Like what he claimed to be. Masses of feathered wings pulsed around him, suspending him and passing through the glassy platform beneath Cloud’s own knees like it wasn’t there at all. His chest was broad and bare, faintly glowing like he was lit up inside by some strange cosmic force. His right arm was deformed, spread like a dark wing that had crystallised in the air, glittering and sharp, and Cloud had no doubts that it could rend him in two with a single strike if Sephiroth chose to use it, but he couldn’t find the will to be afraid.
Sephiroth’s remaining fingers flexed around the back of his neck, reminding Cloud that they were there as his mind caught up and he realised exactly how close Sephiroth was, and who was touching him.
Cloud tried to speak, lips parting to fend off the creature hovering over him like some forbidding omen, but the words curled in on themselves before they could escape his lips, the shadow of a whimper pouring out over his tongue as Sephiroth met his gaze directly.

“You’re a SOLDIER, aren’t you?” Rufus made the question seem more like a statement, like he did not need confirmation from someone he considered lesser. Given the attitude of his father, before his untimely skewering, the condescension wasn’t too much of a surprise and Cloud wondered if Rufus would care for the passing of his only remaining relative. Doubtful, given the rumours that circulated about the intense dislike between the now-dead President and his Heir Apparent. There was no love lost there.
“Which, of course,” Those cold blue eyes narrowed as Rufus continued, the corner of his lips curling up in something that could have been a smile in any other circumstance, but was more a clever concealment of sharp teeth ready to bite, “Would mean that I own you.”
Cloud scoffed loudly to hide how much he wanted to bristle in disgust, the sudden repulsion as he tossed his head enough to throw blonde hair across his face, but by the way Rufus’ smile blossomed into something truly carnivorous, it seemed he wasn’t chagrined in the least at the disrespectful response. That was Shinra’s way. It was all about ownership. All about staking a claim.
“Ex-SOLDIER.” Cloud bit out, shortly, “I quit.”

Summary
Gaia can't be saved, Jenova's poison too far reaching and Sephiroth tied too closely to her Chosen One. Unable to break that bond, she chooses to steer into it. She completes their bond fully and sends Cloud back in time. This time, if one is killed, the other is halved. Cloud can work with that.
Sephiroth gains knowledge of this bond in vague dreams. A blonde warrior who is a sight to behold, but whose death would mean his own. If he is real, he must protect him at all costs.
Too bad nobody told Cloud what Sephiroth wants.
Or; that one time-travel fic where Cloud is just trying to save Gaia whilst avoiding Sephiroth until last. Sephiroth is just trying to find and protect the blonde warrior whose life is inexplicably tied to his own.

“I need your help.” The casual words, spoken from the most terrifying man in the world, were not what Cloud had been expecting when he woke up this morning. Hell, none of the days’ events were things he had been expecting.
When he woke up, he had expected to be in his room at Seventh Heaven. Not a bad expectation, since that was where he had gone to sleep the night before. In fact, it was a rather normal expectation to have. That one would wake up in the same place that they bed down for the night.

Summary
Recurring dreams about an otherworldly man have Cloud questioning what's real and what isn't.
The dreams themselves are heavenly, and Cloud is shown pleasure unlike anything he's experienced before. But waking up in the aftermath grows increasingly concerning when all he can think about is glowing green eyes.When Cloud encounters the man in the waking world, he's forced to admit that his dreams weren't as unreal as he'd believed.
And after agreeing to let the man have him, he learns that his dreams could never compare to the real thing.-

Instead, what he found was Cloud nearly passed out in a bar. It was clear that his drink had been…tampered with.
Refusing to admit that he was worried, Sephiroth brought Cloud home.It took all of his willpower to attempt to remain unaffected by Cloud's mumblings about how "pretty" his hair was (it didn't work).

Cloud takes a few more easy breaths where he lies in his bed, enjoying the clean slate of the day. It’s usually his best time.
He flexes his hand softly and finds that someone is holding it. It squeezes his back, gently, as a lover would. He enjoys it for a moment, assuming he is still dreaming, anf it goes on until he decides it's time to wake up.
A soft chuckle fills his mind. It bounces around his skull, making it the single thing in his awareness. It isn’t his, but he knows it. It belongs to the Silver General. The dead Silver General.
