Summary
Cedric’s death had been the trigger, but the Ministry’s denial of Voldemort’s return, being sent back to the Dursleys while seemingly being cut off from his loved ones, and his name being slandered by Rita Skeeter and her libellous quill start to take their toll.
Dementors suddenly attacking Number 4 Privet Drive is the last straw.
Convinced that someone is trying to kill him, Harry Potter leaves the Dursleys to their untimely fate, and flies off into the night on his broomstick.
While on the run, he accidentally stumbles across a mysterious portal. Unsure of what lies beyond, but seeing no hope in magical Britain, Harry takes his chances and steps through the portal.
Unfortunately, he could not have foreseen how his impulsive decision ultimately results in trading one fate for something similar.

Summary
When Sirius first realised how possessive Remus got, especially around the full moon, it was like Christmas had come early. The first time Sirius had seen the gleam in his eyes, the displeased curl of his lips, the way his fists would clench and unclench as if he had to physically stop himself from reaching out and grabbing Sirius, he filed it away and promised himself he would explore it further.
Over the years, Sirius had perfected the careful manipulation of Remus’ possessiveness into getting exactly what he wanted, when he wanted it. He had poked and prodded and twisted and bent until he knew exactly how far Remus could be pushed before the Wolf came out. This close to the full moon it was like playing with fire and Sirius lived for the burn.

“Kneel.”
The command came, plain and simple, and Sirius did nothing. A twitch in his spine was the only give away that he’d even heard it, his body reacting to Remus’ tone of voice, but he didn’t move more than that. He could see amusement flicker in Moony’s eyes, and Sirius knew he had caught the movement. He could feel his cheeks heating, annoyed that he gave something away, but he ignored it as he raised his chin stubbornly to met Moony’s gaze.
The other man smiled, a slow curl of his lips that sent a shiver down Sirius’ spine. He stepped closer, well into Sirius’ space, emphasising their difference in height, forcing him to tip his head back if he wanted to keep eye contact. He didn’t though, he kept perfectly still as he simply settled his gaze just over Moony’s shoulder instead, doing his best to keep an expression of faint boredom on his face even though his pulse picked up at the closeness.
“Kneel,” Remus said again, voice soft but with a hardness around the edge that made Sirius’ skin prickle.
