And, it worked. Fewer squibs were born overall, muggleborns were brought into their new world earlier to learn and acclimate. Heirs learned how to look for the perfect bride, both respectable and magically powerful, a boon rather than a burden, regardless of their blood status.

He wiggled it into the corner and left the sight of the window. There was a strangled scream he tried to block out. In bed, he piled his blanket over his ears. Bottom of the line, he needed sleep.
And who was he to intervene? Every damned time he did, the person ended up dead or injured. Cedric, Sirius, and countless other friends had suffered under his supervision.
Harry was done playing saviour.

Emerald green meets ruby red; the contrast of the two couldn’t be more noticeable. “I do not regret things Harry Potter, but I would be remiss to acknowledge that no longer having you as my enemy in that way would have been… interesting at the very least.” The lilting voice is soft, so unlike his usual harsh tone.
Harry huffs a single laugh, bright and cheerful, which makes him look younger at this moment. Tears sting Harry’s eyes. “So it wasn’t a lie back then?”
