Summary
She was nine years old when she found him in the street, two fingers in his mouth, staring down a dog twice his size.
She picked him up. She did not put him down.
This is not a love story. It is something older than that — the story of a girl who survived by being smarter than everyone who underestimated her, a baby who decided she was his before she had any say in the matter, and the empire they built around each other without meaning to.
