Summary
The progress they make is faster now, but not nearly fast enough, and the only flashes of coherent thoughts that fly through his brain have to do with crush injuries, the idea of Buck being dead, of finding Buck’s lifeless body, of telling Chris, of going to Buck’s funeral. Every thought is worse than the last, and he forces himself to keep digging, because Buck is still buried under the building.
Buck, the man he is hopelessly in love with, the man who he wants to wake up next to every morning, the man he wants to cover in kisses as the Sun lights up their bedroom and at every other chance he gets, who he wants to cook breakfast with, who he wants to take Chris to school with and go to PTA meetings and parent-teacher conferences with, the man he wants to spend the rest of his life with is still buried, the man who still hasn’t responded to Bobby’s desperate shouts through his radio.

Bobby is silent and Eddie can take a wild guess that he’s seen the video already. He looks nearly on the verge of tears but he’s clearly trying to hold it together for all of them.
“Cap?” Chimney asked, brows pushed together.
“It’s footage of Buck,” Bobby said slowly. “From the tsunami.”

It's years later when they all finally find out what Buck went through to keep Christopher safe, and none of them were prepared.

Summary
Stuck on the sidelines after the raging dumpsterfire that was trying to sue LAFD, unsure of when he'll be able to -or if he even wants to- come back to the 118, Buck is having a bad day and can't help but think that it can't get worse. It, as life tends to do, does.

“Almost four years ago a tsunami washed through Santa Monica. In the years since the tragedy, Los Angeles has focused on remembering the lives that were lost. A memorial was created and every year on the anniversary thousands of people come together to tell the stories of the people who were lost to the wave.
“Over the past year, a team of volunteers sifted through hours of footage to piece together the untold stories of heroism from that day. Using that footage, as well as interviews with survivors, they were able to put together a series of videos recognizing the heroes that stepped up.
“There were many people that saved many lives that day. But one of the most heroic was someone I know personally. This is the story of Evan Buckley, known by most as Buck or Firefighter Buckley.”Or
On a shift without Buck, his team at the 118 turned on the news to see what happened to Buck during the tsunami. After seeing everything that happened, Eddie struggles to convince Buck that what happened was not his fault. Somehow that results in Buck and Eddie getting together and them finally admitting that Buck is Christopher’s other dad.-
