Summary
A sharp pain cuts across Merlin’s palm then, and he realizes that while he was so lost in thought, his hand must have slipped from the pumice he was using to clean the metal of Arthur’s broadsword and cut itself on the blade below. The pain has him fumbling the weapon, and it clatters to the table before him. Letting out a frustrated sigh, he turns over his hand to inspect the wound, fully expecting to have to go back to the physician’s quarters, wrap it, and then come back to finish cleaning.
Only, the cut on his hand doesn’t look like a cut at all. Angry and red, it looks and feels much more like a burn than anything.
But…that doesn’t make sense. Aside from the fact that he’s pretty sure it’s impossible to get a burn from metal that hasn’t been heated, he’s handled this particular weapon several times before with no issue. He thinks he’d remember if it had burned him.
Or, Merlin begins to change in ways he doesn’t understand.

Summary
“Oh. It’s you,” came a dry voice from the other side of the bookcase, and Merlin’s head snapped up. He sensed no gods around, and never in his nearly three millennia had a mortal ever said those words to him; not once.
His gaze landed on Arthur Pendragon.
“You can see me?”
Arthur paused, blinked. “Sorry?”
“You— you can see me?” Merlin rushed to the other side of the case. “You remember me?”
In which Merlin is a lonely god incharge of the mortals’ soulmarks, one of whom he keeps running into.

Summary
When Uther forces Arthur to attend a weekend-long fest dedicated to finding someone to spend the rest of their life with, he is more than skeptical. Choosing a person to marry based on one weekend alone? Maybe it could work for other people, but certainly not Arthur.
However, when Arthur finds out the festival is being held in Ealdor, the Kingdom where someone from his past lives, maybe he could be persuaded.Okay, maybe a little more than persuaded.

Summary
Nearby, lights flickered in the dark. Merlin didn’t know quite what to make of them at first – the lost traders from the caravan, perhaps? – but as he kept trailing after Arthur, he realized they couldn’t be. These weren’t the lights of lanterns or torches, or the warm, easy glow of fires. They were too bright, a ghostly white, and they hovered over the marsh, no bigger than two cupped palms, reflecting brightly on the night-black waters all around him.
Him, because he had lost sight of Arthur in the darkness up ahead.
