Summary
An AU where Kanan decided after moving in with Hera that he didn't want to be in the fight, and left. Years later, he found himself on Lothal, where he met Ezra and took him in on his own. Meanwhile, Hera had met Zeb and Sabine, took them in with her crew, and together they went to Lothal to bring the fight there.
The story itself takes place the same time that Spark of Rebellion did, but there will be some flashbacks and memories. It includes both original missions and scenes, as well as some re-imagined ones from Season 1 of Rebels.

Summary
"Kanan had warned Ezra to stay close to him in the marketplace. Ezra was still young, he said, and he had to stick close to Kanan and try not to look too many people in the eye. They had to melt into the crowd.
It's just—doing that is what gets them separated in the first place.
One minute they're at a stall negotiating prices on blaster parts and the next thing Ezra knows, Kanan's voice is gone and Ezra is standing at the stall all by himself. Kanan has disappeared into the crowd somewhere and Ezra has no high vantage point from which to see him."
On what should be a routine visit to Lothal for work and supplies, Ezra is separated from Kanan in a crowded marketplace, causing Ezra to be emotionally overwhelmed and confronted with a pair of stormtroopers all on his own.

Summary
"Force, you're freezing," Kanan laughs, the movement of his chest jostling Ezra a little, and his arms come around Ezra's back, holding Ezra against him, palms wide and warm through the shirts.
“It’s cold," Ezra says, sleep slurred and mostly muffled by Kanan's shirt.
"Yeah, yeah," Kanan agrees. He tucks the blankets tighter around them, holds Ezra tighter to his chest. Ezra's skin really is ice cold, even though all the layers he’d been wearing.
"Go to sleep," he tells Ezra, who's already more than halfway there. He's stopped shivering, though, for which Kanan is glad. "You'll be warmer in the morning."

Kanan remembered explaining it to Hera once before, about the Force’s depth. To his knowledge, no Force user had ever found its floor, but everyone had a barometric limit they could tolerate—and going past it meant you couldn’t easily break the surface again.
He’d felt Ezra take that same plunge today.
