The spirits of the place - root, leaf, cloud, river, stone - spoke to them. And they could speak back, even command to a gentle extent. Gen’s grandmother could coax stubborn plants into flourishing, call a storm’s attention until it gathered overhead, or listen to the wind mutter news from distant hills. She said every human had a connection to the earth’s spirit, but most were deaf to it. Gen and his grandmother, though - theirs ran deep. Deeper than reason, deeper than blood.

He is human - flesh and bones and lies and truths, no matter how much he tries to appear otherwise, and humans, after 3700 years, still bleed the same color. Senkuu has seen him bleed many a time before, has treated most of them, thus, logically, a nosebleed should not be any exception.

Summary
Ishigami Senkū is simply trying to graduate, and bar the 'accidental mishaps' he's prone to having in the lab, he's well on his way to doing just that. That was until a ridiculously well-dressed mentalist decided they were meant for each other.
"You don't like tricks?"
"On the contrary, I'm actually quite partial to them."
The mentalist narrows his eyes, still smiling. "You like figuring them out."

Summary
Gen could understand that he was possibly a bit obsessed with Senku. The scientist’s mind was so fascinating, and after Gen had felt like he had conquered the mind of every single one of the Ishigami villagers, of the ex Tsukasa’s Empire’s members and also of the kingdom of science newcomers, only the scientist remained standing.
What were his motives? Was it only the love for science fuelling him? Was he really so high above human emotions, never getting overwhelmed by them, or was his just a carefully crafted mask?
Point was, Gen really wanted to unravel the complex puzzle that was Ishigami Senku. It was academic interest, you could say.

During Gen's self assigned mission to understand the wonders of Senku's mind, he finds the perfect opportunity for some self reflection and has some quite interesting revelations.

“‘Ishigami Senku and Asagiri Gen will happily fall into hell together.’ I meant that.” Gen’s hands, which are always so soft and pretty, so precise and smooth in their movements that it almost makes Senku jealous, rub his nape and cup his face the way Senku enjoys, leaning into the touch as he listens. “But you’ll probably say that’s gross.”
Senku’s lips split into another grin when he chuckles, pulling Gen closer.
“Yeah, that’s gross.”

Summary
Being reborn into a world without alpha and omega dynamics does not resolve the gender issues of the past--if anything, it only intensifies them as fewer members are available to select from. If Senku has the issue that he cannot select anyone, even as he tries to sublimate his newfound alpha ruts, Gen finds he has to opposite--the many alphas of the Empire of Might are drawn to his omega scent like aphids to sap. The solution to both of their problems, however, seems to always lie just out of reach given that the world is over.

Senku turns a flower over in his hands. The specimen is simple--five white petals, star shaped, and small green leaves. Berries dot the floor beneath his feet. They rolled out from his pillow, right beside where he'd fallen asleep last night.
His lungs feel tight. The Liar, Gen's favorite flower, and deadly poisonous to boot. And he's just woken up with it in his mouth.

Senku's head snapped up sharply, looking at Chrome with wide eyes.
"He has what?!"
"A tattoo of a cola bottle," Chrome repeated, clueless at the implications. "It was hard to see over the fabric, but I think it looked identical to the one you made. Do all tattoos look exactly like the thing they're copying?"
"Not necessarily," Senku still answered, even as his head was swimming with the implications.
Chrome wouldn't understand his reaction; Sometime in the past 37 centuries soulmate marks ceased to be a thing. But he could certainly notice Senku's distraction, especially as-
"Is it supposed to smoke like th-AAAH!"
Ah, well. Not the first time something exploded in the lab.
