Summary
Yasmin Khan and Rose Tyler, best friends for eight years and roommates for four, have finally followed their dream and started Bad Wolf Body Shop, a tattoo and piercing studio in downtown London. On their first day open, they meet Penny, who co-owns the bakery across the street.

River blinked at them both, wondering if they really were that stupid or if this was some kind of elaborate joke. They both seemed genuine, she just couldn't believe anyone was that stupid. She ignored his question, and asked, "Where's Idris?"
John blinked at her. "I don't need Idris just to walk outside."
"No, you idiot." She smacked herself in the forehead in frustration. "You said you'd need some sort of long stick, with a handle on one end. You're describing a cane and you have one. Where's Idris?"

"Yes, more or less," he answered, staring at a specific cup. "I mean, it varies from day to day, hour to hour. Sometimes I barely notice it, sometimes it's incapacitating, but it's always there. But this cup says 'Don't talk to me until I finish this water'. You could drink water out of it, and nobody could talk to you until you finished."
River didn't respond. She was silent for a long time. Eventually she said, "I'm sorry."
"It's okay, I forgive you." River blinked at him, obviously taken off guard by his bizarre response, then took the hint. "Also, this cup, it has a handle on it, so you could hold it without actually touching the main cup. That's genius, that is. It means that if you put something hot in the cup, you could drink it without burning your hand."
River blinked at him in stunned silence for a different reason this time. "That's - that's a mug. Have you never encountered a mug before?" She groaned. "Let's just go to the movie."

And when she opened her mouth, instead of saying yes or no or answering his question at all, she accidentally asked, "What's wrong with you?"
"Oi!" His indignance was immediate, causing her to look up at his face instead of the cane she had been accidentally staring at. "What's wrong with you that you think that's okay to ask, hmm? You don't just ask people why they need a mobility aid, that's insensitive as anything, and if you have to ask you don't ask like that-"
"No," River interrupted. "I meant your personality." He blinked at her, uncomprehending. "I'm asking what's wrong with your personality because every time I see you, you're doing something ridiculous and attention-grabbing."
John's face fell. "...Oh." He cleared his throat sheepishly. River felt sheepish too now. All the times she had imagined properly meeting John, she had never pictured it like this.
