Summary
Keith has been freshly crowned king after his adoptive father’s sudden and surprising death. Along with the title, power, and kingdom, he has also inherited the prior king’s concubines.
He honestly wants nothing to do with the said concubines. In full transparent truth, Keith is part disgusted that the old man picked younger and younger mistresses throughout the years, but also, he just felt disgusted with the idea of it all.
He believed that hoarding the already rare and dwindling omegas into a locked harem was inhumane. That it was abusive. All around predatory. Disgusting behavior that he would not continue during his reign.
Which meant shoving the remaining concubines back to their homes.
Except one concubine in particular did not want to leave. That was how Keith became stuck with Lance. And perhaps Keith allowed Lance to stay in some turned about way to atone for the late emperor’s sins. For it was the fault of his predecessor that Lance no longer had a place to call home.
What Keith didn’t expect was to almost be assassinated by the said omega, or to even fall in love with him.

“So not that this little display isn’t totally impressive,” Lance says, drawing the last word out and taking a second to admire the flare of annoyance that arises in his attacker’s face, before he flips the knife at his neck out of the other man’s hand, catching it easily and smoothly sliding out of the death grip.
Before the man can make another move to try to relieve Lance of his life (which he actually enjoys, thank you very much) he holds out the knife by the blade, in an attempt to appear non threatening.
“What do you want?” are the first words out of the taller man’s mouth, laced with suspicion, and Lance allows himself a smirk, eyes glittering as he leans against the wall.
“I’m Lance McClain, and I was hired to kill you.”
Or alternatively, when Lance makes the decision to save Keith Kogane’s life, he’s not quite expecting the offer that follows, and the future in store for him.
