The music shifted, slower now, the crowd folding into couples. Blue and gold light bathed the gym, softer, sweeter. Enid forgot Ajax. Forgot everyone. It was only them. Her heart lodged itself in her throat, too big to swallow.
She leaned forward. Just slightly. Their foreheads almost touched. Wednesday’s eyes bored into hers with an intensity that made her dizzy, made her want, made her forget to breathe. The world blurred. Time paused. Enid swore she could feel the ghost of Wednesday’s breath against her lips.
The moment balanced, fragile as spun sugar. Enid teetered forward, her lips parting, seconds away from falling—
And then the sprinklers erupted. A tidal wave of fake blood rained from the ceiling, drenching the gym in crimson.

The peace didn't last long, Wednesday felt annoyance bubble inside her chest when she heard the wolf slowly walking towards her. Wednesday took a deep breath and typed harder, until she could finally feel Enid's presence beside her, followed by the wolf placing her chin on top of the table.
"Leave my side of the room before i make you."
Enid whined in response, pressing her wet snout against Wednesday's forearm and making the most adorable puppy eyes despite the long fangs.
Wednesday is not going to admit that she finds this endearing.

Oh, to be dealt the cruel blow of contact dermatitis simply because she used Enid's shampoo was a crux. On one hand, she now was faced with an allergy attack for the foreseeable future, but at least she was swamped in the strawberry and rose-y smell that was her roommate. It wasn't as overbearing as she had originally presumed the obnoxious blonde to have cloying about— it was less of a smell and more like a sensation in her nose, in her head, something too light to smell as much as to be felt. It was like the scent of jasmine on the breeze in spring, barely there and yet enough to flavor the day.
