Summary
Ryland may be the one who put the smoke into your lungs and his cock between your thighs and your panties in your mouth, but you’re the one who asked for it. You want this, all of it, and maybe it’s the drugged haze, or the circles he’s drawing against your clit with his thumb now, or maybe it’s just him, but it feels so good, for once, to want.
Or: Maybe your parents were right about what happens to innocent, well-behaved young adults at college.

“I think—” he chokes out, “I think I need to be. Uh. Inside you.” And then, like he’s clumsily delivering a bad medical diagnosis, he adds, “I’m sorry.”

Summary
You miss her, but you’re used to that. Even before the Petrova taskforce, before Project Hail Mary and before all the crimes she committed to make it work got her locked up, you rarely had a true monopoly on her time. She lived out of her suitcase even at the best of times, and that was fine, because you had her letters to read and reread and her shirts to use as your pillowcase and her calls to look forward to. You've never really minded waiting for her, as long as you knew for certain that she would come back — and she always, always comes back.
Wait for me, is what she writes, but between the lines, you read, I am coming home to you, no matter what. Soon.

Summary
“There’s nothing you can say that’ll fix this. I don’t need to have a conversation, I need—” He cuts himself off, dodging your gaze while his eyes dart around the room, as if hoping to find the words he’s searching for hiding somewhere among the sparse furniture. When he speaks again, he is quieter, and what he says sounds like both a warning and an admission. “I think I need to hurt you again.”
Your breath, still a bit ragged from the way he kissed it out of you, stutters.
***
In the hours between being asked to step up as the Hail Mary's scientist, and meeting Stratt to tell her his answer, Ryland Grace finds some semblance of comfort in you.
Sequel to song for a guilty sadist, but can be read as standalone. Part one does give you some additional context and more mean dom Ryland smut, though.

Summary
The thing about pain is that it makes pleasure more intense. And the thing about knowing you’re going to be sent up to space soon (to die young and alone and farther from home than any other group of people has ever been) is that it makes you seek out pleasure more fervently. You eat good food, you laugh at everyone’s bad jokes, you sing in the shower, you press idly on your bruises, you go out at night to look at the firmament like it won’t be your tombstone, and you let Dr Ryland Grace fuck you six ways to Sunday.
