my fave project hail mary fics
Collecting all my fave project hail mary fics.
Ones I like tend to be Grace & Rocky, or queerplatonic Grace/Rocky. Deep emotional moments, en route to Erid, life on Erid.
A few might not fit this mold but most of them will!
Mostly Gen and Teen, some Mature. No explicit.
Might open it up in the future, but for now it'll just be me adding to it.

It's not every day you wake up with five arms and no eyes, but Ryland Grace stopped having normal days a very long time ago.

Summary
People have a image of Dr. Ryland Grace. A bit of an oddball, hard working, loves a punny shirt, and is still very much a teacher for all that he's head scientist. Sometimes, however, he does something that is outside expectations. Even the ones he has of himself.

Summary
It's been years since Doctor Ryland Grace saved Erid and Earth. He is content with his life, happy just to teach the next generation of Eridians and have the occasional game night with Rocky and Adrian in his dome. For the most part, nothing changes.
And that's the problem. Shouldn't Grace, y'know...age? When Rocky indicates that he should be sixty human years old by now, Grace can't reconcile the young face in the mirror with the time that his friend has religiously kept.
Things get more complicated when another undoubtedly human ship shows up at the edge of the 40 Eridani system. Suddenly Grace is playing ambassador between the two species, and tensions are rising between them. Will this be a successful second contact, or is the peaceful life Grace just wants to live too much to ask for?

one of the best fics on this site
you got the phm grace and rocky being besties. you got science mystery. you got sudden politics. you got mystery. you got drama.
omg. like this has the structure and prose of a novel. novella. it's my second fave PHM fic. or maybe joint first fave?
put down whatever fic you're reading now and read this one instead.
there's a quote in the last few chapter that ties everything together, an eridian idiom (say that three times real quick) that literally mmmm. MMMMM!! ties everything together. it's phenomenal. read it now pls thx
