Bucky winces and turns his face away, leaving Sam to stare at his profile: clenched jaw, shifty eyes casing the place, hair looking a few days late for a wash. He seems to be bracing himself to take the shot of his life, worrying his bottom lip until he turns back and silently stares at Sam. But Sam’s cool with silence; Sam’s cool with staring. So he waits. And then Bucky says it:
