Summary
Olive Smith was on the fast track to being one of the most renowned female pancreatic cancer researchers in the country, recently accepting a position at Harvard University as a visiting adjunct professor in the biology deparment. She had not been back to visit Boston since ten years earlier after the SBD conference from hell that almost made her give up science for good. Fortunately, her two best friends Anh and Malcolm convinced her otherwise, and she found herself actually accepting a position when the dean of science had reached out to her to teach in their biology department. She loved the idea of molding young undergraduate students’ minds and inspiring the next generation of cancer researchers - not that she was biased or anything.
This story is an alternate ending to The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, in which anything after Chapter 18 does not exist. Olive never shared the recording of Tom Benton with Adam, and Adam accepted a teaching position at Harvard shortly thereafter. This story exists in a universe ten years later.

Olive Smith has worked as a labor and delivery nurse for the past five years. She absolutely loves her job and her coworker and best friend, Anh. But, when the COVID-19 pandemic forces the hospital to redistribute staff in an effort to alleviate staff burnout, Olive finds herself in the midst of the chaos that is working in the Emergency Department. To make matters worse, she is now going to be working directly with renowned cardiologist and surgeon, known ass and "hospital hottie" (Anh's words), Dr. Adam Carlsen. Can she survive this forced rotation shift? Or, will she beg to go back to only tiny humans yelling at her?
