“So do you have a name?”
“Yeah.” The man who had saved his life less than an hour ago – the white-haired, absurdly buff, weirdly sexy man Jaskier might have called taciturn if he was feeling charitable and surly if he was feeling less so – dug into his second burger.
Jaskier waited. “Are… you going to tell me what it is?”
The man paused mid-bite, and looked at him reproachfully as if to say how dare you. How dare you interrupt me. Can’t you see I’m enjoying my cheeseburger. Can’t you see this cheeseburger is the most important thing in my life right at the moment. He swallowed, and said, “Geralt.”
It turns out almost getting eaten by a werewolf can make your whole life go careening off in a new, terrifying, wondrous, artistically flourishing direction. Who knew?

Yennefer laughs long and hard. “Darling, if Jaskier and I lived together for more than a week, they’d find our corpses clinging to the same scarf.” Geralt agrees with her but says nothing. “I think he should stay with you.”
“Yenn,” he growls.
“Oh come on, Geralt,” she sighs, “You can’t stay mad at him forever. And he needs somewhere to stay, you know he hasn’t lived anywhere long enough to even have an apartment in years. He gets on well with Ciri, and it’s just for two weeks. What’s the harm?”
The harm is, of course, that he hadn’t even apologized yet for that damn video. “Fine,” he says, instead of admitting it. “But I’m kicking him out if he pisses me off.”

When the stay-at-home order starts, Jaskier needs a place to stay, and Geralt just so happens to have a guest bedroom, and he gets along with Ciri, and there's no logical reason to turn him away. So Geralt swallows his pride, and pretends that everything is fine, and that Jaskier doesn't keep openly mocking him with each song he releases. Two weeks will pass in no time, and they probably won't even see each other. Probably.

“I know how to run away.”
Geralt raises a brow. “Do you?”
Jaskier gapes and stumbles back a few paces. “Excuse me for finding it hard to leave you alone. How dare I care about my friend!” He spins on his heals and walks forward.
“Daggers would be a good place to start,” Geralt contemplates out loud and remembers there’s a spare one in his pack.

Summary
Those memories will always be embedded into his mind. He’ll always remember how his fingers and hands trembled and his breath caught in his throat and shivers rattled through his spine. Even if wine or ale or mead dulled his senses and muddled his words, there’s enough clarity to remember and lavish.
There were a lot of firsts he likes to let wash over him again; the first time he lured a laugh out of the Witcher; the first time he sewed the Witcher’s skin back together after a particularly difficult hunt; the first time Geralt called him by his name and not 'bard'. And just like those times, he finds warmth blooming through his entire body, letting the memory wash and lap over him like gentle waves.
Then he digs for more securely hidden memories. Ones locked away just for him and he would never make their way into songs – no matter how much he teases the Witcher.
The first time they shared a bed and woke entangled around each other; the first time they kissed; the first time they slept together. Memories that flush his skin and stir his core.

He told him about other non-Witchers who had visited and lodged for the season over the years. But that wouldn’t be the last of their struggles.
One of them, revealed one night as they lay dosing and sated in some generic inn sat on a merchant’s crossroads, was about Geralt’s brothers.

“You look less than pleased to be here,” says a voice to Geralt’s left. It’s jarring enough that someone that he doesn’t recognize is speaking to him that Geralt almost chokes on an ice cube. He swallows hard, then looks towards the voice.
“What gave it away?” He asks. He licks vodka-cherry flavor off his top lip, waiting for this irritatingly pretty stranger to say something shitty.
“Well, you’re nursing a drink and brooding in a corner when you could definitely be doing a lot else. And, no offense, you look confused by your drink. Plus, you’re way too pretty to be here alone.”
Geralt bites down on his bottom lip, trying unsuccessfully to suppress a smile. “That’s a shitty line.”
