Leo pets Barry’s cheek. His eyes are unbearably tender. “Oh, it’s okay, darling boy. You’re being so good for us. Tonight isn’t to punish you. It’s all about letting you relax, because as I understand it, you’re not very good at that.”
Barry shakes his head. “I kinda need help making my head quiet.”
“Don’t worry, darling boy.” Leo kisses him again, sweet and chaste. “We’re going to take you apart until the only thought left in your pretty head is us.”

“Sorry.” Ray gets up off the sofa. He doesn’t come much closer, though, for which Barry is grateful. “What’s happening?”
Len arches an eyebrow. Oh. He wants Barry to explain. Hesitantly, Barry mumbles, “I’m in overstim. All my feelings are too much and need reset, and I can’t…” He glances up at Len for confirmation. Denying Ray and Leo feels terrible; he needs to know he’s still good. His nervous glance elicits a gentle smile and a firm, grounding caress. “I can’t do sex like this.”

“I think you are.” Leonard strokes Barry’s cheek. His baby leans into the touch with a blissful little smile that warms his heart. “Because do you know who doesn’t tell nice Ray and Leo about important things? Little babies.”
Barry nods and picks up a chocolate chip pancake to nibble. “Baby,” he coos, in the voice that means he’s settling into the mindset the more he repeats. “Baby Barry. Bitty baby Barry.”

“Squandering?” Len snaps. Barry flinches and recoils into Ray’s arms. This is the crux of the argument, which means things are going to get loud, and he hates yelling. Ray cuddles him close and watches warily as Len gestures at the door. “Well, you’re here now, aren’t you? So make the most of this world I’ve apparently wasted, but don’t you fucking dare judge me for a life you haven’t lived. Just because I didn’t live through what you’ve endured doesn’t mean I never suffered.”

“This could house whole families,” Leo whispers in awe. He takes in the smallish but impeccably trimmed lawn and the array of flower bushes and asks, “This could really be ours?”
“Let’s see the inside before we make that decision,” Ray cautions. He intertwines his fingers with Leo’s and brings their intertwined hands to his lips. More quietly, with a conspiratorial look that makes Barry think this is just for Leo, he asks, “It’s magnificent, isn’t it?”
Staring up at the exterior—light blue paint, white trim, tiny second-story balcony with a cute but sturdy railing—Barry can’t help feeling like it’s already theirs.

“The two of you will stay bound like this for forty minutes,” he says. He’d agonized over the time limit until Barry gently reminded him that any of them, Ray included, could safeword out if it was too long. “There is a way out of your bondage that doesn’t involve you slipping out of your ropes. It will require compromise. If the two of you work it out before the allotted forty minutes, you’ll be released early.”
“We can wait out forty minutes,” Len drawls.
“I know you can,” Ray agrees. “Which is why I’m giving you incentive. I’m fed up with your arguing and want to punish someone. Barry has graciously agreed to take the punishment I would otherwise visit on the two of you.”

Upon seeing Barry with Henri, he tilts his head. “Sweetest darling, do you feel baby today?”
Barry ducks his head and starts to chew on Henri’s stuffed ear. “Maybe, Daddy Leo,” he mumbles in the tone of voice that means he’s one wrong sentence from an RSD spiral. Oh, they have to do something about that.
“Leo,” Leonard singsongs. It feels weird to be conspiring with his doppelganger, of all of them, but they have quite a secret in store for their baby. It’s been ready for the last several days, waiting for Barry to feel little enough to enjoy it. “I think when Ray wakes up and we have breakfast, we should show our baby what a nice thing we made for him.”

Len looks acutely ashamed. “You know how you tied me up, that one time? And…and told me what to do, before that?”
Ray’s eyes widen. He never would have predicted Len asking to sub. Occasionally, Len has fallen into an intermediate role—not as subby as Barry, but subordinate to Ray—but always organically. It’s never been planned. “You want me to take charge?” he asks carefully. Using the word ‘sub’ seems like inviting an argument—he’s seen how particular Len gets about wording. The understanding is there, but he doesn’t mind talking around it.
Len ducks his head and studies the grain of the hardwood floor. “Yes,” he mumbles. “I’d like that.”
