Summary
Half a year ago, Connor was abandoned at a gas station because his owner wasn't satisfied with him anymore. Markus was the one to find the young man injured and frightened and he decided to take him in.
Recovery has been slow and gradual, and both of them have managed to find a steady rythm of life. This is the first big holiday season they're spending together. It's also the first Connor thinks he might enjoy.

When Markus gets home that evening, he realizes Connor's issues run deeper than he's ever envisioned. Nothing prepared him for what the distressed box boy would be willing to do to ensure that he'd be kept by his new owner.

317800 is a boxboy. That is all he was ever meant to be. He was taught by handlers, then continued learning on the job, and he's always been tasked with the essential, singular, all-encompassing duty to do the right thing by his owner. Lately, it seems that he hasn't been doing the right thing at all, because Master is growing tired of him. 800 doesn't know how to fix that. 800 tries anyway, just as he has always tried his absolute best to be a better boxboy. Sadly, what 800 doesn't realize is that it's already too late for him.
Today, 800 is going to be abandoned at a gas station because his owner isn't satisfied with him anymore.
