Summary
Enjolras has never known anything but the Senate.
His, Courfeyrac’s, and Combeferre’s fathers were all members of the Senate; they had never been outside of the sector. There was no need. As he walked down the street that left from that great monolith, Enjolras wrapped his arms around him and observed the life he lived in.
The men and women in their work uniforms passed him by, paying no mind to his worry. The androids sent for errands kept to their own side of the street, so clearly just cold machinery that no one could ever consider them to be human. The children that played outside their homes in colourful fabrics that their parents could afford because nobody in this sector had experienced poverty and pain.
And Enjolras hadn’t either. He walked down the street with a red blouse because his parents could afford it, and he had never worked a day in his life.

Summary
Her legs were shaking, Cosette had never fought before. She didn’t know what to do, what to say. The other girl, however, had wild eyes as she clutched onto her mangled forearm as it bled onto her blouse.
“D-don’t touch her!” She tried again. Her free hand clenched to a fist at her side. “You’re a bully- just hurting someone because you hate yourself just as much!”
One of the other men laughed. “That’s sweet. Did you see that one in a cartoon?”
“She’s sooo brave.”
“Hey, moitié, do you have that 'fighting spirit' that the news talks about in you?
Cosette was surrounded, a man so close to her that his chest might have grazed her own. He stared her down with a grin she didn’t like, and suddenly she’s trying to remember every method of self-defense that Papa had taught her and there’s a hand on her waist and-

“And you’ll turn me back on?” Jehan asks. They don’t shiver at the temperature without a shirt or cover their bare chest in embarrassment. They just sit. “You promise to turn me back on?”
“I promise to turn you back on,” Bahorel says once more. “It will be alright, I promise.”

Marius had abandoned them so he could talk to a girl with a squashed nose. She wasn’t even pretty, in Courfeyrac’s opinion, and not to mention she was-
Courfeyrac stops in the street.
This was the exact thing that Enjolras wanted everyone to stop feeling: the loathing towards moitiés simply for being alive. Courfeyrac had sat by him and helped him edit his speeches and ideas and he watched the news with Enjolras, wishing just as much for a better station for everyone to live on.
Courfeyrac made himself sick; he was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Summary
“You okay?” Grantaire asked.
Feuilly flinched at the sound of his voice, but raised his head nonetheless to blink at the other man under the yellow light of the pantry. “There are other people here,” he murmured. “There are other people.”
Grantaire took a fruit off of the shelf, tossing it down to him before taking another and sitting down with a grunt next to Feuilly. “So you’re hiding out then, huh?”
He chose not to answer.
“I don’t blame you,” Grantaire huffed before biting into the flesh of the fruit. “I’ve been hiding out too. I don’t like strangers.”

Summary
Combeferre stares at it. He hadn’t typed that in himself, and it didn’t exist previously. Cautiously, and now partially afraid, he compiles the code and runs it, watching the same text pop up on a separate window.
He watches it blink back at him for a while before deciding he just needs to go to sleep. The program says otherwise, however, and a new line pops up.
“Okay,” Combeferre sighs. “I’m going crazy. I am just- I have lost my mind.”

Summary
Mabeuf blinks before turning back to Gavroche. “Humans aren’t automated enough to care for the plants. The lot of us got replaced with service droids.” His face falls for a moment, fingers dancing over the tops of the plant. “But all that matters is that they’re keeping them alive. I do suppose they’ve done it better than we ever did. I miss it quite a lot, though. I loved caring for the plants quite dearly.”
He holds out his hand, Gavroche taking it cautiously. Mabeuf moves his hand forward to touch the tops of the sprouts.
“That’s real life,” Mabeuf says softly. “Worth more than anything out there.”

Summary
Musichetta laughs with a shake of the head. “Oh, you think it was a human? It was definitely one of us who looked at a human and decided they were gonna breed them. How do you think Joly and I got together?”
At such a statement, Joly’s jaw drops as he bumps her shoulder. “Stop! That is not funny.”
She only laughs again and kisses his temple. “It’s a biological burden, babe, trust me. Grantaire and I can just smell your fertility all the time.”
Grantaire, for the record, smelled nothing of the sort and hoped he never would.

Summary
Musichetta stretched- feet flexing as she went onto her tip toes until cracking her back.
“God,” she sighs, “I haven’t had a real hibernation in years. I can’t imagine what it would be like after waking up if it’s this bad in segments.”
Grantaire huffs another laugh. “Maybe you should try it sometime. A “real” hibernation, I mean,” he says with air quotes. “Go home, or whatever it is you lot do. God knows we were cursed with the twenty-four-hour cycle.”
“You want to get rid of me that bad, hm?” She says with a sly smile. “Have a sausage fest on board for a hundred and eighty days? Probably your dream come true”
“Har har. You and God doing stand-up in your dreams? Working on your tight-five?”
