James paused momentarily before continuing, “I swear I didn’t intend it to be like this. I wasn’t trying to make you uncomfortable or to manipulate you into sleeping with me or anything.“ Not that he wouldn’t if Sirius would let him.
“Then why don’t you?”
“Er-” James’s throat went dry as his eyes widened before averting them to look at anything but Sirius. Did he just say that out loud?
A thoughtless comment from James causes the Hogwarts rumor mill to go wild. It seems that one of the most eligible bachelors in Sirius Black has finally become receptive to the idea of dating. While James never cared much for rumors, he clearly has to when a brave (stupid) Gryffindor decided to test his luck and hit on his best mate.

Summary
Sirius paused. He really didn’t want to deprive himself of kisses and cuddles and it looked like James didn’t want to either. However, he also had a stubborn look on his face when he taunted Sirius, “What, scared you can’t handle it?”
Sirius huffed, “Of course not! You’re on, Potter.”
“Prepare to lose, future Potter!”
James and Sirius are embarrassingly codependent. It is just a fact of life that everyone has learned to accept. However, a teasing comment about their codependency somehow sparks a rather fierce competition between the two idiots which eventually led to a reckless ride across Godric’s Hollow on a flying death machine (aka Sirius’s motorcycle).

“I can’t give you your legs back but I can be your legs until you get them back.” Potter replied logically, before carrying him out of the hospital wing on his back, all while ignoring Sirius’s demands for him to put him down.
A prank gone wrong between long time rivals, James Potter and Sirius Black, resulted in a severe injury to the heir of the Black family. Injured and crippled, James offers to be the other’s legs until he recovers. Add in a few familial issues, misunderstandings, and sarcastic jokes to the mix and feelings ensue.
