Summary
Future Cleveland was the perfect place to watch the sun rise, Mac Coyle supposed as she straddled the health centre’s parapet. Soft pink and honey gold blended across the cityscape, casting long, saturated shadows behind her, while the shine of early morning light glistened from the polished windows adorning the multitude of skyscrapers surrounding her. A faint line of clouds — painted in the dawn’s colourful expression — spread across the horizon, chasing what darkness that night clung to.
It was beautiful. Stunning. Perfect.
There was no prettier morning for Mac to die.

my take on what the comics rooftop scene could look like with the show's version of mac and kj, with many creative liberties taken.

Summary
Evening walks with KJ held a unique, private air that just couldn’t be replicated, either with her other friends or on her own. Even with the summer air humming with vibrant warmth and a setting sun painting the sky above in familiar hues of amber and pink, there was always an inexplicable chill that came over her and wracked her bones as if summer had given immediate way to early winter. Normally, she’d brashly lament the loss of heat and the impending cold of the season, but in these quiet, tender moments between just the two of them blanketed by an unseasonal chill, she found very little to complain about.
Maybe her brain just didn’t have the words to explain it anymore, but it always felt right. Sentimental, even, despite Mac’s own indifference to the same nostalgia that gripped her friends every year.

mac has a not great time at a house party; not her fault, of course. she may have survived cancer, but what's the point if her closest friends have already moved on from her and she doesn't have the energy to catch back up?
