"I don’t know how you’re going to take this, but we think whoever did it did so to help you.” Joshua pauses, like he’s afraid to tell Jungwon the truth. “ We think that, in order to try and keep you from telling the truth, Heeseung tried to kill you before he fled. But somebody else turned you to save your life. Another one of his vampires defected to save you.”
Jungwon’s world stops, everything from the pain in his mouth to the empty feeling all over and even caving into the urge to bite into a living human’s arm all starting to make sense, as much as he doesn’t want to believe it. “Turned… me?”
Joshua nods. “Yes, turned you. You’re one of us now, Jungwon, a vampire.”

Jake’s felt some of the biggest pride he’s ever known from his work with Heeseung, but it’s also caused him to feel like a massive failure, so much so that it’s physically painful. He knows deep down that he shouldn’t feel the way he does still; he should have just viewed Heeseung’s case as every other vampire he’s helped and as just part of his job, not letting it get further than that.
But, unfortunately, it hasn’t been that easy.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After their coven moved into their new home, Jake's forced into closer proximity with Heeseung, who he still hasn't forgiven for everything he's done. It doesn't help that he's not as over Heeseung as he tries to make it seem.

“Guys, guys,” Jake cuts them off, looking up from his book, “I think I found who they are and what they’re after.” He holds the book out to Jungwon, who takes it and starts to scan the page, Sunghoon and Heeseung looming over each of his shoulders.
“‘The people of Dreyrugr… a small group of practicers that have harnessed the powers of magical beings akin to demons… their texts state their desire to capture and sacrifice vampires in an attempt to possess their immortality’,” Jungwon looks between his mate and Head Advisor.

While on what was supposed to be a nice wintery vacation to Norway as Jake studies magic native to the region, Jungwon and his closest circle of vampires find themselves on the run as a bloodthirsty cult hunts them for their powers. The young leader must do everything in his power to get himself and his friends back home safely, even as they uncover that Heeseung might be more important in this than they all realize.
