Summary
He’s not denying that forces beyond his own understanding operate in the universe. He’s met enough sorcerers during his years that he can understand there are methods of manipulating the Weave that are beyond his purview. Gale can accept that at the roll of the dice, the Gods can grant a select few the power to see and know beyond the typical mortal experience.
He just didn’t expect Astarion to be one of those granted such power.
If only Astarion would use his powers for good, instead of using them to mortify Gale at every opportunity.

Astarion watches in awe as the wizard stands before him and raises the arm holding his staff, letting it drop from his hand. Before it escapes completely from his reach, those clever fingers snatch at the base of the weapon from mid-air.
With a competence Astarion has only seen in the man when in front of the cook pot or moving his fingers in well-practiced patterns, his broad shoulder rears back, raising the enchanted staff behind his head, and letting it swing it in one violent, sweeping arc.
Holy shit.
Or, Astarion's never really seen Gale attempt a melee attack before, and has thoughts about it.

The texts they read had alluded to pleasures untold, the relief of placing oneself completely in another’s hands so deeply that one could, upon occasion, fall into an entirely new mindset. He thinks of it – of her - much more rarely now since the incident; he’s proud that it’s only a momentary shock that wracks him, and not the full-blown panic attacks of the few months prior. His therapist would be so proud; both of that, and the fact Gale's taking the initiative to seek out the tattoo artist - stepping out of his comfort zone in a way that means he’s ready to move on.
He just needs to work up the nerve to actually contact the artist, explain what he wants.
Finally free of his abusive relationship, Gale contacts local tattoo artist @IchorousInk to help him take the last step he's planned towards his recovery.

The elf let him take his hand, but didn't speak until just after he’d confirmed that there were no marks of injury, no burns welted into his skin.
“I.. I can’t see. It’s too bright,” his fiancé said breathlessly, painfully; and it had torn through Gale, devastated at the simple injustice of it all.
Gale gifts Astarion with a Ring of The Sun-Walker, but they discover that even magic has limitations in freeing him from the harsh embrace of sunlight.
