Summary
Regulus is in and out of the building they're hiding in: an abandoned thing that might’ve once had many rooms but has since lost many of its separating walls. He thinks it might’ve been a hotel or a hospital, an open lobby with what was probably once a garden in the center of it, an old, out of tune piano that might not even work surrounded by debris that few of them have the confidence to climb around in.
James is sitting at the bench of the out of tune grand piano sitting in what was once a lobby. There’s debris around him by some of the doorways -- Regulus wishes so desperately he could know what had happened to this building to leave it in such a state -- and he’s sitting at the piano and-
“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen him play.” Sirius says from beside Regulus.

Regulus got to the Potters before Voldemort is able to reach them after Pete sold them out. They and their friends go into hiding and one day, James is playing the piano.

Summary
“I’m going on break, Reg.” Remus calls after he finishes wiping down the counter, “I’ll be out back.”
“Yeah, go smoke. You’ve been grumpy all day.” Regulus hums, putting the box that he was just sorting through on the ground by his feet so he remembers to shelf them later. Remus flips him off as he’s walking by to get to the back room, which makes Regulus roll his eyes, “You’re just proving my point.” And with that, the door to the back room closes and Regulus is left alone in the shop.
The bell over the door rings.Regulus groans, picks up the box from where he’s got it on the floor after putting the last book in his hands on the shelf, and walks out of the shelves and towards the front desk, “Welcome..” He says to the patron that had just walked in, “What can I do for yo-”
Holy shit.
Who is this man?
“Hi, is Remus in right now?” The man asks, walking towards his desk, “I told him that I would run his cane.” He holds up his hand holding a cane -- Remus’ cane, “But I don’t see him.”

James runs into the bookstore that Remus and Regulus work in to give Remus his cane and ends up finding a very attractive mane.

Summary
“Are you working on another painting, love?” James asks, coming up behind their boyfriend and wrapping their arms around his waist.
Regulus taps his paintbrush against his palette and sets it into his water cup, “Yes. She came to me in a dream.”
“She’s pretty.” James hums, leaning his chin on Regulus’ shoulder, “Gonna be hard to find.”
“You say that everytime.” Regulus rolls his eyes, turning to press a kiss to James’ temple, “But you do it wonderfully. Every single time.”

Regulus paints people from his dreams, James hunts them down and 'improves' their appearance for Regulus to paint them again.

Summary
Regulus showing up at the Potter Mansion was the last thing that James expected during their summer between 6th and 7th year. But he did. He did show up, a large bruise on his jawline, his hair messy, and his normally put-together clothes rumpled and loose on his body.
James immediately pulls him into their arms, guiding the younger further into their house and onto the couch in the living room, calling out to his parents. Effie is in the living room almost immediately and she rushes over while James lowers themself and Regulus onto the couch.
“Oh dear, what happened?” The woman asks, kneeling in front of the two of them, “Regulus, darling? Are you okay?”
“No… She-” Regulus breaths, leaning further into James’ body heat, “She learned about James and got… upset. She kicked me out.”

They see Effie standing up to Walburga in the doorway. Effie is much shorter than the latter woman, likely a foot shorter than her with Walburga’s heels that she insists on wearing, but the way that she holds herself makes it impossible to tell.“If you do not give me my sons, I will be contacting my lawyers.” Walburga screeches in Effie’s face, though the shorter woman doesn’t flinch.

Summary
Regulus knows that she shouldn’t be in here. He always knows that when he walks into the forbidden forest but he does it anyway. He likes it, likes the environment, likes the noise that it creates even late at night from all of the creatures doing their own thing. So he walks into the forbidden forest, just like tries to do at least once a month.
Only he stops short about halfway to the little clearing that he had found several years ago, when he sees James. Now, Regulus has known about the activities that his brother and friends get up to during the month, he’s talked to Remus enough about that for him to have confided that information in Regulus. But it’s nowhere near the full moon and James isn’t in any sort of animagus form -- he may know about them being illegal animagi but he doesn’t know what they are outside of Sirius being a black dog -- it’s just… James.
But what’s more concerning to Regulus is the fact that James is just standing there petting the wings of a fucking thestral. They’re cooing to it, talking quietly.
...
Regulus finds James in the forbidden forest petting a thestral and they reveal that James can, in fact, see spirits but doesn't talk about it very often.

There’s a cemetery near the Black mansion that the boys like to visit. Regulus has always had a fascination with all things dark and dismal -- probably from his upbringing if he’s being honest about it -- and with that fascination came along his love for cemeteries.
Regulus loves cemeteries.
