Summary
The Curtis parents died later. Darry managed to make it through college, and he managed to bring Soda along with him to get better schooling. The only thing he left behind was Ponyboy, in the hands of Dallas Winston and the rest of the gang. After five years, Darry and Soda return back to Tulsa, only to try to demand Ponyboy back.
Ponyboy doesn't want to go with them. He's nervous, and something in his gut was telling him something bad is going to happen.
He just needs to survive it.

Summary
“Darrel Curtis speakin’.”
Dally pinched the bridge of his nose. “It’s Dallas,” he said dryly. “I need to talk to you quickly.”
The line went silent for a moment, and Dally almost believed Darrel hung up on him.
“What about?” Darrel asked, cutting through the silence. “Do Soda and I need to come down there for anythin’ else?”
Dally clenched the phone, his knuckles turning white. “Yeah,” he said. “For Ponyboy. Ya’know, yer youngest brother? The one you didn’t take with you when you galavanted away off to fuck knows where?”
