Description:

Georgie escaped an abusive family when Astral found her and took her into his home and under his wing. She became part of the Connection, a group of magicians who try to forge a bond between the human race and an alien species with the help of their magical powers. To protect his loyal flock, Astral regularly tests his cult members using magical rituals to prove their loyalty to him and their mission. This series chronicles the many tests Georgie undergoes to prove herself to Astral.

Notes:

It's the year 1960. Georgie is a teenage girl whose magical powers are unknown, Astral is a grown man and powerful alien mage specializing in fire and healing magic, and Teresa is Astral's teenage alien witch wife.

There are no names used in the stories, except occasionally in dialogue, to convey the eroded sense of identity that comes with living in a cult. "He" is the only "he" who matters; "she" is too low in the hierarchy to deserve a name. "The other" or "the other alien" has no pronouns, existing in the strange space between him and her, human and alien, lover and enemy. The "other lovers" are the group, the many, the members of the cult who are not special, and exist only as "they." "They" refers to the godlike aliens in their true forms who must be respected with a capital T.
