Summary
It wasn’t that William was particularly annoying. He was just so, so infuriating.
To James, anyway; the guy seemed a prick, seemed to have that slightly too-cocky persona and a jawline that could slice through anything seamlessly. Every guy he’d met like that ended up far too haughty and far, far too much for James’ liking… despite his own flaws, their similarities, his own too-cocky attitude and his winners complex.
It wasn’t that James was particularly rude. He just seemed to have it out for Will, seemed to have built up an irritation towards him.
And what had Will done to warrant it?
Absolutely nothing.
OR
A British Youtuber (background characters being primarily gaming youtubers) Formula One au in which James works in McLaren and Will works in Williams, and they just so happen to be rivals both on the track and off.

Summary
James would describe his life in one word, and that was cozy. His life was the opposite of hectic; he ran a flower store, tucked into the nicer parts of his city (which was surprising, given that London was typically a very unsafe area), he had friends to surround him and a cat that would anticipate his arrival all day, every day, waiting for him to finish his shifts.
Will, on the other hand, wouldn’t. His life summed into one word, he’d decided, was buzzing. A tattoo artist never had an easy job, really; he was yelled at near-daily despite the pretty perfect tattoos he’d ink onto people's skin. Despite his over-the-top caffeine consumption, he had a steady hand and an eye perfect for tuning in on finer details.
Will was James’ favourite regular. James was Will’s favourite not-so-regular.

James owns a flower store, Will's a tattoo artist. James gets his tattoos done by Will, who just so happens to frequent James' flower store to buy flowers for his girlfriend.

Summary
Just a video.
That was all Will was repeating in his head as he opened his eyes to see James stood there, holding two sides of a floor-length wedding gown, all he was repeating as he let his eyes linger too long. It was what he was repeating in his head when he felt his heart skip an unwanted beat.
It had started off fine, perfect even. They were reviewing silly little items off of Facebook Marketplace, they were joking around like usual, like two best friends with nothing else going on between them would joke around.
That was what they were exactly; the only way to describe them would be two best friends with nothing else going on between them. They made jokes, sure, but so did everybody. It wasn’t gay.
Will wasn’t gay.
But James was in a dress, and God, for a moment he thought he might have been.

Summary
The city of Dema; the happiest (or, well, bleakest) place in all of the world. It stood in an otherwise green continent named Trench, and where it stood, it stood tall. Dema was all grey concrete and neat interior whereas Trench was all wild greens, untrimmed weeds and seemed far, far more homely than Dema ever felt like.
To James, anyway.
James only just about conformed with the beliefs and the runnings of Dema, only just about made it to the annual ceremonies on time and only just about found himself believing in the whole Vialism bullshit. It was the widespread belief, anyway, he had to believe it. The last guy who hadn’t…
It was best not to get into that. Reportedly, it hadn’t been pretty. He still remembered the wanted posters hung around Dema. They’d disappeared one day. He couldn’t figure out why.

will has been passed on the title of 'torchbearer' ever since the last guy gave the position up. james is a citizen of dema that will begins communicating with, reaching out in order to assign him the title of 'clancy'.

Summary
Will hadn’t noticed that James’ gigs were the only ones without a single photo online, which, in hindsight, should have been enough of a red flag in itself. If he ever had, he hadn’t said anything about it. Not to James, anyway.
Will never saw anything wrong with James’ lack of online presence, he was a very private man with a very public music career. A lot of celebrities didn’t take to social media for publicity, like… Jake Gyllenhaal and Winona Ryder. It wasn’t that big of a shock that James didn’t use social media often. Whenever he did, it was never photos of himself.
Whenever you’d look him up, James’ album covers would show up, but never a photo of his face. Ever. There’d be drawings of him done from memory by those who had attended his shows, although most were far from accurate.
Only Will really got to see him. In the flesh, in person, and not in fluorescent lights that caused James’ otherwise pale skin to flourish red for at least twenty four hours after.
OR
James is a vampire, and he assumes that Will knows he is; Will does not. He goes a year not realising that James is a vampire, chalking up all of his mannerisms to neurodivergency of some sort.

James didn’t mind the press. He really, really didn’t. His patience had just been wearing thin as of late; they’d been pressing too hard, trying to stick their noses up his ass to figure out details of his personal life that he really didn’t want to let them into.
They didn’t need to know about his relationship with his former rival. They’d agreed to keep it between the two of them… and a select few friends.

Summary
Being a member of a band with a semi-small fanbase wasn’t the easiest of things James had ever done. He loved the shows, the thrill of them, but he hated travelling. Sometimes he’d think that the only reason he played shows was to garner enough money to make it to the next.
Being part of a band with a far smaller fanbase was definitely not the easiest thing Will had ever done. Being a drummer for a band with roughly 26 Spotify listeners, it was difficult cramming into small basements, either his own or a family friend’s; they rarely had enough space to move, let alone fit an entire drumkit.
OR
James is a singer for a band named 'rodds', and Will drums for a smaller band called 'brokelads london'. James' band does quite well in the local music scene, whereas Will's slowly falls apart until he worries losing his passion.
