Summary
Rick Sanchez dies.
No clone, alternate Rick, backup consciousness, or multiversal technicality can bring back the exact man Morty lost. Summary
Morty Smith came home years ago. Nobody in Claire Porter’s family knows where he was, why he returned without Jessica, or why he still lives as though he might disappear again tomorrow.
Fourteen-year-old Mara only knows that her grandfather can open doors into infinity—and has terrible judgment about when to use them. What begins as one drunken trip beyond Earth becomes a year of artificial people, alien dictatorships, intelligent space-worms, collapsing bedrooms, unwanted matchmaking, old friends Morty refuses to explain, and a time-stopping device he absolutely should not have built.
While Claire and Danny struggle to keep their family intact, Miles refuses to remain a background character, Summer brings decades of resentment home, and Mara keeps asking the questions Morty has survived by avoiding.
Morty insists their adventures are meaningless. Season One keeps testing whether he means it—and how far he will go when his grandchildren become the one finite thing he cannot replace.
