Summary
Ryujin hadn't, for the record, expected this to work.
She hadn't, in all honesty, expected anything. This had been stupid, a last ditch, desperate, stupid attempt at breaking through the fog of- boredom that had hovered over her for so long she had forgotten how to breathe without it filtering her air. It had just been— she was just messing around, for fuck's sake, just taking the piss. She was halfway drunk, having, rather unwisely, spent an inordinate amount of her earnings— earnings that she would no longer have, thanks to her freshly fired status— on several cheap cans of beer, and the heavy library book she'd unthinkingly picked up was spilled carelessly somewhere to her side, and there was a pentagon in white, chalk-dust, smeared on her kitchen floor, and thin candles burning away at each corner, but the fire had turned an alarming shade of teal, and Ryujin was no fucking genius but even she knew fire shouldn't be that colour, and Ryujin hadn't. Expected. This. To. Work.
Except now the fire was teal and it was climbing, climbing, into a raging vortex, and Ryujin was so utterly fucked.

Summary
"And you know there's only one way to send me back, Ryujin. Make a deal with me."
"I'd rather kill myself, thanks," Ryujin grumbled as she set the chalk and candles down with more force than needed at the till.
"Um… are you okay?"
Ryujin blinked. Shit. She'd forgotten about other people being a thing. She'd been holed up in her shitty fucking apartment with a shitty fucking demon for far too long. Three weeks too long. She knew better than to ask if the poor guy at the counter could see Sayeon. "Yep," she said, nudging the chalk forwards slightly. "Doing great. You?"
The cashier smiled with a somewhat forced affect. "I'm okay. Uh… any special occasion?"
Ryujin raised an eyebrow. Looked down at her meagre selections. Chalk and candles. "Sure. Exorcism."
The cashier perked up, eyes brightening. "Ooh. Are you a professional?"
Ryujin eyed her blackboard chalk and off-brand candles. She spared Sayeon a brief glance. She was looking at her with clear bemusement. "Sure am."
