Summary
This will be a collection of my FFXIV write entries for 2021! I've never participated before but I'm excited! My hope is to mainly write OCs interacting with the world and with canon characters. There is very slight canon divergence in my wol's canon but I will try to make it all make sense even without the full context of all the changes! Content warnings and tags for each piece will be in the chapter notes, so as to not tag this with a million things. I only will tag the characters and ships in the actual tags!

Summary
When they last saw one another, it had been in the infirmary following the dragoon’s possession. Aymeric was steadfast at his bedside, clutching his hand and biting back tears as he sat vigilant and restless.
He hardly slept then, either. Instead he whispered prayers and muttered confessions of love and devotion through choked sobs. It kept him up to wonder if Estinien had heard his desperate pleas, and if that was why he hadn’t returned. Much like a cat, he frightened easily and was left bristling and wary at the first sign of change.
Estinien seemed a new man when he awoke, no longer bound by the shackles of his vengeance, his grief, or the slow corruption of his aether. Had they been alone together at that moment, Aymeric was sure he would have kissed him.

Alex had been his best friend once, but now he was seemingly too busy and too cool for his old friend. Mallory threw away the life he had been building in order to come back home, but nothing is as he remembered it to be. His heart aches for the fleeting happiness of his past, and to forge a new future for himself— with any luck, a future that includes Alex by his side.

A collection of short oneshots that are all set in the same universe as my main fic, Coming Around Again, which is a Male Farmer/Alex slowburn. Some of the oneshots in this anthology expand on other characters or relationships and can also serve as standalone oneshots, and others are direct connections to specific chapters in my main fic but from a supporting character's perspective. Chapters are labeled with the principle characters or ships and rating, and tags will be updated as needed.
Not all oneshots in this collection are required reading, but the essential stories are marked with a ⭐ in the title. Anything else is just character/relationship study, and is still worth reading, but not as important to the overall plot of the series. Pretty much anything that's marked as pre-canon can be read with no prior knowledge of CAA, as well as several others set later on, but please mind the a/n for further context.

Summary
Despite being multiple years into their relationship and marriage, communication at times gets lost— particularly when it comes to sex, seeing as Alex and Mallory are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to their sexualities. Mallory grows more comfortable with the act each time he and Alex do it, however, he's still not great at communicating his needs or his boundaries. After Alex takes things a little too far, they talk it out in language that Alex can understand.

In a panic, he hurries home, hoping to outrun both his shame and his traumatic past. Alex is special and Mallory wants to believe he'll be different than other guys have been, but the way he was ogling his body makes him worry about Alex's intentions. Sex was never something Mallory planned to experience ever, but if it were Alex... Would it be okay?

As much as her rejection had hurt, it was the wakeup call Alex had needed. A fifteen-year-old who always had something to prove, some new goal to overcome, always climbing higher and higher— rejected on the basis of something he couldn’t change. Or could he? Alex had never felt much like a girl: always loud and excitable and keen to get dirty, and not to mention his love of sports. His mom had been much the same, she just said they were both ‘tomboys’, but that hadn’t felt right either.
Penny’s rejection made something stir in him. He realized on that late summer day, dumbstruck and abandoned in the meadow with a bouquet of poppies in his hand, that he was indeed a man. That made the sting of rejection sharper as he ruminated on it, like pouring water onto a fresh burn. Rejected not because she didn’t like him, but because he wasn’t good enough as he was.
Another challenge to overcome.
Written for the SDV Writers' Guild Rare Pair Week Day 4 prompt: "Childhood friends". A story about how a rejected love confession led to Alex becoming the man he was always meant to be.
