Summary
Hopper finds that in the Kamchatka gulag, there's not often changes in routine. Wake up, eat half a slice of moldy bread, work on the railroad in freezing conditions for twelve hours, try to avoid attracting the attention of the guards so you don't get the shit beaten out of you, get watery soup and more moldy bread, collapse and sleep. Over and over again.
Routines are always the same until they aren't, and after a brief assignment to a different labor detail - demolition in a lab inside the main gulag complex - he meets a scientist with an unexpected connection to an old ally who could be his way home.

Author's Note: The original character in this is technically Ulana Yuriyvna Khomyuk from the HBO Miniseries Chernobyl. Basically just had a thought of: what if that character was in Kamchatka? And ran with it.
