Summary
Stede Bonnet, a wealthy, magicless landowner with the dream of becoming a wizard, leaves his old life behind for adventure. He makes a name for himself as a cursebreaker in the process by encouraging pirates he comes across to overcome their hexes, or rather, inconveniences, by their own willpower.
Blackbeard, plagued by a certain curse that comes with the pact he made with the fire demon Izzy and hunted by his old mentor to be added to his army of magical creatures, is looking for a way out of this mess. The Gentleman Wizard who’s said to break curses may just be what he needs.

In the land of Ingary, where such things as seven-league boots and cloaks of invisibility really existed there were a lot of things that sounded like misfortune that people had happening to them anyway.
Everyone knew that there were certain roles that come with such misfortune and, the eldest of three, was one of the most usual one. If the three of you set out to seek your fortunes, you’ll be the one with the worst outcome, and the one to fail first too.
That meant that, being the youngest of three, would be the best thing that could happen to you in a land like Ingary. Or that was what people have always thought. Misfortune was common, yes, but fortune and luck were equally usual, for everyone amusement.
