Summary
Haytham had been sweet as a child – annoying, childish and frustrating, but still sweet. Fascinated by the world, adored Mother and Father and their old dog, and wanted real friends more than anything. When he had rescued her, she saw that the nine-year-old boy was still alive in there, trapped behind nineteen years of betrayal and trauma. She had sat there and watched, weeks and weeks by his side, as he was gripped by fever and bedridden, his skin pallor and with a sickly sheen, watching the kindness and innocence of childhood in her brother's eyes gradually slipping away, replaced with something else; something dark, devoid of hope and almost sinister in its darkness.
She would not let his son suffer the same fate.
Jennifer Scott, after years of campaigning for Haytham to try and talk to his son, finally receives a letter from Ratonhnhaké:ton. Something alights within her, and she resolves not to let the little family she has left disintegrate across the world.

5. Mary Read carries Jenny’s letter to the Kenway House, and Edward is going to have a heart attack.
6. Haytham shows Connor the portraits hang in their house in Queen Anne's Square.
7. Haytham talks with Jenny once they finally find her.
8. Lady J... Jenny?!

1777, knowing the inevitability of potential conflict if the Hunter were to stay, Haytham Kenway, the Templar Grand Master of American Rite, gave him a new mission, with extremely vague and limited clues, to leave the newly formed country and find a new artefact overseas again.
Lucky for him, this time it only took him five years to return, unlucky for him, it’s still not quick enough—Haytham was already gone, killed by the man’s own son.
Too late was him to realise that the mission was only an excuse, a distraction, all but to send him away, to protect him, and Connor too, from each other.
From Charles Lee, Shay learnt that Haytham had given him one last mission, and this time, it would take him the rest of his life. And he took it anyway.

Shay only lifted an unimpressed eyebrow at that, smiling mildly. “I see that Achilles has told you his side of the story already.”Shay returns during the events of Assassin's Creed III, soon after Haytham and Connor decide to work together. He's not amused that Haytham's son is so determined to kill him. So he and Haytham make a plan to prevent just that and maybe even convince Connor that an alliance between Templars and Assassins might be useful, after all.

The other man looked at him in silence for a moment. “I would understand if you prefer to leave again. Now that the box is found, there is no reason for you to stay with us any longer.” He heard the unsaid words. “Haytham.” Shay said slowly, catching the other man’s eyes. “I didn’t come back to just leave again once things turn difficult.” He knew that it was probably a bad idea. That there was a possibility that, after all those years, Haytham didn’t feel the same way about him anymore. “We’re in this together, if you still want me.”When Shay returns with the box, he discovers that there is a traitor within the Templar Order. Of course he's determined to help Haytham find the spy and make sure that he can't do any more harm. Because one assassination attempt on the Grand Master was more than enough. HAYTHAM x SHAY
