Summary

His eyes were fixed onto his face, as if all of what was wrapped around them, the fresh-paved roads and new buds unfurling through the sidewalks, the still-dripping graffiti, the thrum of music, meant nothing to him, as if he’d seen it all before.
“That’s garbage,” Sho scoffed, as if the thought hadn’t made him feel sick. “Try crunching your own numbers before telling me how to run mine.”
A wry smile crooked Kariya’s lips. “Would that I could. But there’s something you’re just not getting…” He leaned closer, and in his eyes Sho saw love and regret in equal measure, and above all else, himself, and he realized that after all these years they were finally approaching the same age.
“The dead don’t change, kid. We just rot slower than most.”
For as long as he can remember, Sho Minamimoto has been able to see things that others cannot. From childhood to the cusp of adulthood, through life, and through death, he exists between spaces and he does so alone. Will a transformation be possible? Can he ever break out of this phase?
