Summary
At 18 years-old, Neku Sakuraba is a down-on-his-luck minimum-wage worker struggling to keep his boss' failing record store afloat. He's been directionless since graduating high school, and being saddled with an uppity, out-of-place valley girl for a coworker isn't helping matters. Then Coco starts acting strange (stranger than she is already). At first, Neku doesn't think about it much. He thinks more about it after she kidnaps him at gunpoint and forces him to drive her across the country for a wellness-check on her wayward online girlfriend.
Along the way they pick up Coco's half-brother: Sho Minamimoto. Having been kicked out of his Master's Degree due to...Minamimoto incidents...he really has nothing better to do than feign reconnection with his distant sister. And torture her recent kidnapee, if time allows.
They're not what each other wants. Not even what each other needs. But they're stuck with one another, and that has to count for something.

It hasn’t been all that long since that night at Hachiko. Not enough time for Neku to fall into a new routine.
Joshua says things around Eri that would give away the whole Game if she ever believed him, and manages to wriggle out of paying every time they've gotten food together since the first night. He's got enough social tact Neku's sure he knows every rule he's breaking, which is pretty much constant. The only reason he hasn’t successfully picked a fight with Beat yet is that even Beat can tell he’s doing it on purpose. He’s smarmy, capricious as hell, and just as Joshua as ever.
Neku couldn’t be happier.

After the events of Like A Butterfly, Joshua's still getting used to this whole "having friends" thing. And this whole "admitting you have feelings" thing. Neku's still adjusting to having Joshua in his life again, along with his still-fairly-new relationship status with Shiki and Beat. Sanae, meanwhile, is making plans to resume his side career that could use a Composer's endorsement. And then Kongming gets back from Kyoto. Life's never dull for fans of Shibuya's rising musical star and her manager.Series

Neku looked at a building in front of them, examining a fallen trash can and the waste littered around it. He thought his night terrors WOULD go away, especially after spending… a long time in Shinjuku, where he had long adjusted to this new setting, but he’d still occasionally get gruesome nightmares that should probably be concerning and he should probably check into.
He kicked a crumpled plastic cup, watching it land in the middle of the street. Though, he couldn’t help himself, really—He had to be going at least a little crazy. “They will. Eventually.”
Five times Neku was plagued by nightmares and one time his friends decided to do something about it.
