Feyd-Rautha pauses a beat, then asks, “What were you doing, Atreides?”
His voice sounds so much deeper than he remembers. Paul barely trusts his voice to work, but he schools himself and responds nonetheless: “Reading. Watching a filmbook.”
Feyd-Rautha’s eyes narrow. Paul can feel the weight of them drag over his body, over the sheets and around the room.
“Your filmbooks are here,” He says, pointing to the desk to his left, where Paul’s filmbooks lay in an organized pile. Paul curses himself inwardly. It was a flimsy excuse anyway. He fixes his gaze on Paul again, tilting his head down to stare at him.
“I was…” Paul starts. “I was getting to it.”
“You were getting to it?” He questions, raising a hairless eyebrow. He’s leering at Paul now, yet remains standing by the door. Paul suppresses a shudder, his embarrassment finally coming back to him as his cheeks color.
